Hi. I just installed a network in my house. I'm pretty happy with it, but I have one question:

Will my phonebill go up if my dad's logged onto AOL and I'm using the internet through his computer? My dad's connected onto the internet right now and I'm using a computer that goes through a switch that is connected to his computer. I thought that only one person can go onto AOL at the same time. Thanks for the reply in advance.

It depends, do you get charged for internet acess by the month or by the minute? To use AOL internet, you don't have to use the AOL service. You can use IE, or any other browser. If you get internet with a flat monthly charge, your internet bill should stay the same.

If you're sharing the same connection over a network(I.E. your switch), you'll both have limited speeds. And yes, while one person is logged into your AOL account, you will not be able to use it. This won't have any effect on your bill from AOL or the phone company.

Thanks guys, now I have another problem: my computer has XP Pro and it can't look at the network. I can't see the network and when I tried to do a computer search on the network, it couldn't find any computer. Only the internet works for some odd reason. Can anyone solve this problem?
