I swapped over to new PC mag (Atomic MPC) this month and apart from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R info, this was about the best thing in the book. Back to good ol' PC User I think.

Anyways, here is part of the article:

For better or for worse, 3DMark is now an entrenched part of 3D benchmarking. Some people like it for its pretty pictures, some enjoy watching the demos, while others simply want that magic number at the end. In any case, it has reigned undisputed as the industry standard 3D benchmark, until now. Sure, there have always been other alternatives available: GameGuage, VillageMark and Codecreaturs are all well known, but none offered any tangible threat to 3D Mark. The exclusive preview we abou to present you represents possibly the first - Massive Development's 'Aquamark 3'.

I'm not going to type out the whole article, all you need to know is that it is a DirectX 9.0 benchmarking tool and you can download it from http://www.aquamark3.com/.

Aquamark is the only true DirectX 9 benchmark. 3dmark 03 is way to synthetic and Nvidia likes to cheat with it.

You can run the standard test (1024x768, 32 bit colour, no FSAA & 4x anistropic filtering). To run the advanced and custom tests, you need a license.
