Arcade Mode - Class Specific racing?

So last night i decided to try my R8LMS Phoenix in an arcade race to see what the changes were (if any) after 1.04 and i found a nice surprise. All my opponents were GT3 class. Now this definitely never happened since GT6 launched (in fact even in GT5 you could only get class specific opponents by using the loan cars). So i decided to test it out just in case it was a fluke.

To my surprise every time i entered an arcade race in a GT3 car (incl my Anni SLS GT3) i had a complete grid of GT3 cars.

So then i tried other classes.

GT300: full grid (even when trying base cars and the loan BRZ GT300)
GT500: full grid of GT500 opponents.
Nascar: full NASCAR grid.
LMP: tried my 787 / C9 and got a full lmp grid with only one or two GT cars.
Tried my Bentley and Anni R18 however, and got a bit more of a mix - So not sure about this.
Tried the loan 908 and got a full "Le mans" style grid with LMP's and GT's (though there was a random Monster SX4)

Now this happened regardless of circuit (just in case for NASCAR this was locked to the ovals)

Has PD implemented some form of class specific matching for arcade mode? I really hope so because this has really made arcade mode a lot more fun and will definitely tide me over until they add 16 car grid, fuel usage and tyre wear :)

Has anyone else found this to be true?

Cheers :)

I'm going to try this with many different cars tonight, very curious to see what the line up will be.

Are we still limited to 10 opponents? Are has the grid been put to the full 16 like GT5?

I raced in Monaco 2 laps (highest difficulty) with a Ferrari 330 P4, finished 3rd, I lost against a Zonda R and a McLaren F1 GTR, the main competitors where high end racing cars (not LMP's or Group C)

I'd be happy with only ten opponents. In GT6 (and GT5) when you have lots of opponents, performance suffers noticeably.

The first thing I did yesterday after downloading 1.04 was a 25 lap arcade race at Brands Hatch Gran Prix. I used the Alfa 155 '93 DTM car and this was the grid I ran against (from memory):

Raybrig HSV '12
Subaru Impreza TC
Toyota Corolla Rally Car '95
Supra GT500
Amuse S2000 GT1 '04

My car was on sports soft and they were on racing hards. It must not recognize the DTM cars as a class but I'm glad we can finally get a little bit or organization in the car fields.

I'd give my right arm to have more options in Arcade mode (I may be exaggerating...).
You can always use a AT transmission, so don´t worry !

:P

That´s an excellent news, OP ! To be able to RACE against the same class is just great... There´s no doubt that GT6 is getting better by the minute.

Hey guys,

thanks glad i found something we're all excited about, and it is exciting, i was so disappointed not to be able to race arcade gt3 races. So happy we can now.

@hognhominy, i have the 15th anni edition that came with 20 anni cars.

I agree this really makes arcade mode a lot more worthwhile but i still can't wait for PD to implement damage, fuel usage and tyre wear. Perhaps this will come when the course creator comes? I'm trying to remember when they added it to gt5's arcade mode?

@88GTA, i think gt6 sees dtm cars as just touring cars, so perhaps it matches with other touring cars?

@SillyBillyP, thanks for mentioning in the changelog thread :)

The cars are likely labeled as they were in GT5, where NASCAR, GT300, JGTC, GT500, etc. races were restricted with specific cars. I would imagine that any car restrictions we have seen through A-spec in GT5 or career mode in GT6 will yield a specific grouping in Arcade mode, but unlabeled cars (like the DTM ones) will just continue to be matched through PP numbers.

@sumbrownkid, ilike to keep my racecars stock. In addition i make all my LMP and Le Mans cars "real" HP, referring back to Furi's LeMans Bible from GT5 :) great resource btw. As far as i can tell, PD removes the restrictor from the LMP's once purchased (though the HP in the dealership is real spec). So i always detune the cars (esp the LMP's) Does make the Bentley a bit slow down the straights tho lol.

One of my wishes, awesome catch...

@gibo155, as far as i can tell, the matching only seems to be with the racing car classes, so GT3, GT500, GT300, NASCAR LMP. I also tried to see if the road car matching was better (think classic muscle grids etc) but all i got was mixed grids of similar PP range. I agree with you @dimassa19, it's a great start :) Would be great to have all classic muscle car grids for example (like i've seen in one of the rolling demos)

@hognhominy, perhaps we should clarify this matching in the changelog thread to show it seems to be only in the racecar classes? not normal roadcars - they still seem to be purely PP related.

Cheers guys glad i could help :)

GT300, GT500, GT3, good for a start...

Yea maybe I was a bit over zealous, it is a good start and hopefully will be impoved upon going forward.

Heres to hoping they update this so that they let us freely choose what cars the AI drive (fingers crossed)
