I'm building a new wood rig and am looking for a seat at the local wreckers. Haven't seen one yet that mounts flat. They all appear to have some sort of offset mounting.

Edit: (many of the seats I looked at today had offset and off angle mounting points. I guess I could chisel a 2x4 to match but I'm looking for something with more of a universal and flat mounting pattern .)

Yes, I can probably work around it, but would be better if I found a seat that mounts flat, same way as universal rail would.

Anyone have experience finding universal mounting seats or a quick work around?

Seats reported as flat mounted:

Mini Cooper
Opel GT
Late model Mustangs
Mercedes C230 Kompressor
Smart cars

My home made rig has a BMW seat which had different rail heights so all I did was used a packer to get it level. You can use pretty much anything, just experiment on level ground till you get it right.

Also there's this https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/i-built-a-low-budget-wheel-stand-that-actually-works.374520/ Mini seat that has flat rails.

Opel GT's are flat mount,
That's what I use as I had several. Not too heavy to move sitting not bad had to build it up to match wheel. I still need to make a stand for it (Old man finds it very hard to get out of). I think MG Midget/B's are flat mount. Most pre 80's would be good bet.

I'm looking at late model cars sold in Canada. Did look at 2 mini Coopers but they were completely stripped.

I have a feeling Nissans may be flat. Going back to the wreckers tomorrow to continue my search.

Found some good info here.

I'll be looking for some of these cars tomorrow at the wreckers.

Picked up a mint condition black leather passenger seat from a 02 Mercedes Kompressor. All 4 mounting points are flat. Seat has 4 way manual adjustment.
And only $32 Can including tax at the local U Pull.

I used an MX-5/Miata seat for mine. It wasn't especially comfortable, though. Found a guy who was building one of those awful Atom-like Exocet kit cars practically behind my house so I took it off him for practically nothing but damn if it didn't need some padding...
