Are EA planning to rectifiy the terrible framerate problems?

I only ask because its such a massive blight on an otherwise very enjoyable racing game. Last night I struggled through the NFS Live World Tour events, with particularly choppy framerates at Silverstone and Autopolis GP. But the icing on the cake was the frankly terrible, stuck-in-treacle experience in the final at Brands Hatch. In a works Z06, the framerate was so bad that I had trouble negotiating corners because I found it difficult to "guess" the correct entry speeds. My laptimes were around the 2:35 mark, simply because the cars were moving glacially slowly around the track. Extremely frustrated, annoyed and infuriated barely even begins to describe how I was feeling, which is particularly bad given how great the rest of the game is!

So my question is, are EA investigating this issue and are they in the process of readying a patch?

i wouldn't have thought so, this long after release. i reckon they'll be in the process of making the next nfs by now

So, you think that since September is "long"? I've got other games that are older than this that still get the occasional patch.
In reference to the original post, I didn't experience framerate issues as bad as this on the final tier of races. Try going on the NFS form to see if anyone else has had this issue. EA still bring out patches for this game which seemed to help the cars tha bounce around.
I don't know what could be causing your problem with framerate, I'm not clued up on that sort of stuff. :dunce:
Sorry to hear about it. If you manage to get through it, the reward is certainly worth it!

peter_vod69 are you referring to PS3 X360 or pc version of Shift?

PS3.

It's only when racing a full grid of AI cars on some tracks, or when crossing the kerbs at Silverstone. But on some tracks its fine! Last night at the Nurburgring I was racing a full grid and it was seamless and smooth, for example.

I'll put a post on the EA forums about it as well.

We are dealing with the same frustrating issues in the weekly League races as well.

There are certainly some tracks that seem to have this problem more than others: Spa, Silverstone, Laguna Seca are three that come to mind, but I think the rating of the cars also contributes to the problem. Highly upgraded 14+ cars seem to make the problem worse.

And I can't help wondering if the slowdowns don't contribute to the dropped connections (from the EA servers), as well.

If we can't succesfully play this game online and we can't play the career mode, then what's it good for?

I have the same problem with the framerate and slow downs in the World Tour events. The first event was OK, no problems at all, but the second event, same as you, Silverstone and Autopolis were crap to run on, the slow down would slow your car down but not the AI cars, so it was impossible to win the races. Without winning the second event the third was not unlocked. The sounds of it the third event was just as bad, I'm glad I didn't do the third event and get as frustrated as I did in the second. :indiff:
What got the spark back in the game for me was the Time Trial competition and Weekly League that is running in this forum.

At this point, they are probably rushing another NFS. I gave up on it and since I got a PS2 and GT4 for 68 $, 10 less than I paid that terrible game, well I don't care but I wouldn't get my hopes up for another patch.

I just raced the Works Restricted Comp. "Race Series IX" and every one of those tracks was a stuttering mess for me , I made it through to the end with a Win , but it was frustrating as all get out though .
And also what is up with the long load times ???

Darn good thing the steering wheel is locked down :D
