Are the commercials really GT6?

Hey guys, just had a question, thought maybe you could share your opinion on this.
We all know the PS4/Orbis announcement is literally months away, so its almost a given that GT6 will be next gen title.
Now, Im not sure how much you have read up on Sonys next gen offering, latest rumors state it would have 8 Jaguar cpus at 1.6ghz each (I hear overclockable to +2ghz each) 4GB of GDDR5 unified ram for both cpu and gpu and a HD7970GPU.
So, the Cell is basically being ditched next gen.
My question is, knowing what Kaz has stated in the past (GT5 game engine like an OS to be carried over) and given how close we are to a next gen announcement, do you feel the trailers are made with the next gen dev kits?
I rewatched the HD version of the new NSX trailer and a few others, granted there is no aliasing issues and it doesnt state "Gran Turismo 5" in the end, just "Gran Turismo" , I feel it is being made with the next gen dev kits.
Opinions? Do you still expect GT6 on PS3?

Unfortunately yes. I believe that the current power of the ps3 is not enough. I just hope to high hell that they can re-introduce the australian Ford FPV's

The Orbis is supposed to have a 7970m which is more like a 7850 desktop graphics card. Also if you watch the other GT5 videos theres no aliasing in those videos either.

Although I just watched that Honda advert and most of what I saw looked better than GT5 , but some looked a small few scenes looked like GT5 tracks. The car itself looked it was a bit better than a premium car in GT5 too. Maybe its just done like that for the advert like all other adverts PD do though.

The trailers are cinematics. They are by all probability not rendered in real time. The longer rendering time you have, the better video quality you will get. For all I know they could have had those videos rendering for a week.

They probably used the same software as they use for all the other videos they produce. After all, the videos are not meant to be played on a PS4, so no reason to use such a PS4 dev kit?

I expect GT6 to be an Orbis title now. In fact I am now thinking it could be out within 6 months of its launch. Ideally, for both us and Sony, it will be a launch title as it would be a great system seller if Sony price the Orbis competitively.

My bet is Kaz and the team were hard at work porting the engine to PS4. I did hear ramblings of a patent from Sony back in 2011 as to simulating the CELL SPUs with a general purpose CPU. If the rumors are true (Jaguar cpu), then they could port the engine easier.
What is great though.. unified memory and 4GB GDDR5... Finally, I think we are going to see the vision of what Kaz wanted for GT5.

Imagine seeing a GT6 debut trailer at E3 2013! Im just hoping its a launch title for Holidays 2014.
Also, remember, the PS3 is about 0.23TFlops. The PS4 is rumored to be 1.84TF. So the future of GT is glorious indeed!

Just remember guys, the first PS4 dev kits were actually sent out in early 2011 to first party studios like PD and Naughty Dog. So it still could very well be GT6 in the commercials.

P.S... I hope we never see "standard cars" again!!

The videos are rendered and they contain e.g. weather effects (moving clouds have shadows) which are neither in GT5 nor in its engine as far as I know. Given the rumors that PS4 will be introduced this year, I am quite sure: This is the GT6 engine.

Agreed. I know for the very fact that those trailers like the NSX Concept trailer was indeed from "GT5" and some were just renders, not GT6 imo...

Neither do I.
Considering the life span of the ps3 + the actual performances of the console and game bugs + the game updates + Sony's and PD's reputation they better not pop out GT6 for this console generation.

I expect GT6 to be on the next PlayStation. I kinda always expected it considering the huge gap between the last two titles. One GT game for the current console is a bit of a bummer, but it is what it is.
