Are There Any Cars With Customizable 8-Speed or 3-Speed Transmissions?

I don't seem to have any in my garage and I was just curious to know if there are any in GT5. I believe I remember there were 1 or 2 in GT4 with 8-speed transmissions (though I'm not 100% on that).

Both of the Chappys have 3 speeds. Pretty sure they are the only ones that do.

The Lexus IS-F and Skyline GT-8 have 8-speeds (and you can buy racing trannys for them), but I'm sure there are more.

I think the IS-F has an 8 speed, don't think its customizable. The Chaparrals have a 3 speed, but it is not customizable. The Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C1) '54 has a 2 speed transmission.

So I'd be willing to guess that the adjustable gearbox for the '54 Corvette is a 3-speed. I'd also be willing to guess that the GT-8 and IS-F both have adjustable 8-speed boxes available. Anyone care to confirm/deny?

Also, the Nissan GTR Concept LM has an 8-speed which I'm assuming is adjustable, since it is a racecar. I would guess the normal GTR Concept '01 has an 8-speed as well and would thus have no fewer with the adjustable unit installed.

C1: Exceptions to every rule I guess
GTR: The highest I've ever been in one is the top of 6th gear, and I guesstimated my speed at that point that it probably had an 8-speed. I think. I don't know any more.

I believe (hope) if you put a customisable transmission in an 8 speed, it will convert to a 6 or 7 speed

One of the really old vettes, I think the C1 has 2 gears! Sorry if that's not completely on the subject. Just thought I'd bring it up.

It's supposed to be a 2-speed automatic. the manual version had 3 gears.
However, the torque converter "effect" isn't simulated with this car in GT5, so it behaves as if it had a 2 speed manual gearbox.
Chaparrals with 3 gears are supposed to be equipped with manually-operated hydraulic (torque converter) automatic transmissions too.

Rule one of helping: If you don't know the answer, don't give the answer. It's no help guessing at something and then stating it as a fact - it doesn't help anyone to know what you're guessing at if it doesn't reflect reality.

And now, answers with evidence:

Chaparral 2D '67 - 3-speed, fully adjustable gearbox:

Chaparral 2J '70 - 3-speed, fully adjustable gearbox:

Lexus IS F RM '07 - 8-speed, fully adjustable gearbox:

Nissan GT-R Concept LM Race Car - 7-speed, fully adjustable gearbox:

Edit: Quick scan shows that the blueness of the blue numbers isn't quite as clear as it ought to be, but notice the adjuster buttons are blue - non-adjustable 'boxes have greyed out adjuster buttons.

The Corvette (C1) Convertible has 2 gears, and I think gets 3 gears when you put in a racing tranny.

Already proven five. I thought three since the usual method for racing transmissions is "add one forward speed" (unless the car already has seven or eight), but I guess there are exceptions to every rule.

And I guess it would kind of make sense...

it's funny that the GT-R Concept has a 7 speed transmission, but the R35 GT-R (V-spec or regular) comes with 6 speed transmissions as stock. Really weird since PD worked with Nissan on the info system, you would think they would take the time to put the right transmission with that car in the game.

Who says the 7-speed in the concept is wrong?

The production versions have six-speed geaboxes in real life, don't they?

Yes.

The only car with torque converter that I found (at least working not bad) was one of the jags, don't recall the model though...

Cheers...
