So now that the new Logitech had launched the all-new Driving Force GT wheel, who's gonna buy it. It's a wheel specially designed for Gran Turismo 5 from what I hear, so it should be more precise and more resourceful than any other steering wheel on the market at the moment. I when I say resourceful, I mean it. For example, there is a horn on the steering wheel which you use to activate the horn in the game. And this alerts me to another thing. This means that you will be able to blow you horn when you get angry with an oppent in game, AWESOME! I would love to get it but the problem is my Mum and Dad. They never get me the consle when it's brand-new, beause of the price. So by the time, I get that and Gran Turismo 5, Gran Turismo 6 will probably be nearing it's realease, and this is talking, what... 2, 3, or maybe even 4 years in the future! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Sticking with the old, which happens to be the G25 in my case. No way that I'm going to go back to a DFP style hand chafing rubber and plastic wheel when I have the leather and steel one. The extra gimmicks can probably be assigned on a a separate controller anyway.

well I have the DFP (GT4) and got the g25 for christmas. So I really don't see a point in getting another will which has no clutch. Ok I must admit that the brake bias setting option the illuminated horn are some fancy features but it's really a bummer without the clutch. So I probably won't be getting one at least in the beginning. Maybe sometime later for a bargain price :-)

if you already have a g25 i understand you sticking with it but I just have the DFP and will be getting this one for sure.

It has a playstation button and the wheel looks a little bigger.

I always use the paddle shifters anyway and I love having a GT logo on the wheel since gt is all I use it for.

I got my DFP when gt4 came out so I have gotten plenty of milage out of it and now I'm hoping for some 2 player side by side wheel racing when gt5 comes out.

I don't have a wheel yet but I think the new one is the one I am going to get based on how they say this wheel has been made basically for GT5. To me having a clutch is no big deal. But I have to say I was expecting this version to be the top of the line version. I will wait to see some reviews to see how this stacks up to the G25. Can someone comment on how this is not as good as the G25 just by what has been posted?

Here is an article I found on the wheel.

Today at the Game Developer's Conference (GDC), Logitech (SWX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI), the world's leading developer of force feedback gaming wheels, announced the Logitech® Driving Force™ GT racing wheel, the official wheel of Gran Turismo™. Featuring powerful force feedback and an innovative 24-position realtime adjustment dial for on-the-fly control of brake bias, traction and damper settings, the Logitech Driving Force GT gives gamers the most accurate and authentic PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) racing experience.

"We're excited to be working with Polyphony Digital again to deliver a wheel that will satisfy the needs of car enthusiasts, like me, around the world," said Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech's director of product marketing for gaming. "People who love the striking realism of the Gran Turismo racing series will discover that Logitech's latest wheel will allow them to experience the cars the way they were meant to be driven. With the Logitech Driving Force GT, you're not playing games anymore – you're racing!"

Logitech's latest racing wheel was meticulously designed by Logitech and Polyphony Digital, Inc., the developer of the Gran Turismo series. The companies worked together to add the unique realtime adjustment dial, a first for force feedback wheels, allowing people to fine tune the car's balance by adjusting the brake bias, traction control and damper settings. Now Gran Turismo drivers can have precise control over the car's setup to achieve maximum performance.

"We have always designed the Gran Turismo series for driving enthusiasts. Realistic graphics, a technologically advanced physics engine and authentic sounds for every car in the game make Gran Turismo 5 Prologue a true driving simulator," said Kazunori Yamauchi of Polyphony Digital. "Now, with the Logitech Driving Force GT wheel, drivers can have unparalleled control of their car, extending the realistic racing experience."

Logitech's newest force feedback wheel simulates understeer, oversteer, and traction loss with frightening accuracy. While the full-size gas and brake pedals deliver precise throttle and brake response, racers can use either the sequential stick shift or the wheel-mounted paddles to race through gears. The wheel also features a large 11-inch wheel with rubber-overmold rim, providing exceptional comfort and control.

The Logitech Driving Force GT turns 900 degrees lock-to-lock allowing drivers to navigate hairpin turns with greater accuracy. And with anti-backlash gearing, there is no slack in the steering response, making any race a smooth, realistic experience. In the center of the 11-inch wheel, the Driving Force GT features an illuminated horn button with the official Gran Turismo logo. Using the authentic sounds of the car being driven, racers can quickly alert other cars when they are approaching fast. Or when playing online, people can simply use the horn to taunt other players as they speed by.

The Logitech Driving Force GT wheel is engineered for use with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on PS3, which will be available on Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) and as a download on the PLAYSTATION®Network in North America on April 17 and in Europe on March 28. The Logitech Driving Force GT wheel is also compatible with Gran Turismo™3 and Gran Turismo™4 on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.

Pricing and Availability

The Logitech Driving Force GT wheel is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in May. The suggested retail price is $149.99 (U.S.).

Sticking with G25, Because of clutch and shifter.
Horn- Pointless,
Brake Bias- Good but will probably beable to configure my G25's numerous buttons 4 it.
Traction- same as Brake Bias

i am still planning on getting a g25.

im glad they released this info so soon because i was waiting to purchase my g25 to see what they came up with.

I'm wondering if they'll be doing another version of this wheel to include a clutch come time GT5 is released or soon afterwards. I'm probably not going to count on it, but I thought I'd put in my $.02 on it anyways. :)

I am torn on what I want to do. I was comparing the G25 and the new Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo Wheel but now I also need to compare with this newly announced wheel. Most important to me will be the actual feel of the wheel when racing. ( Force feedback etc...)

the pedals on the 911 look way better than that of the g25, but the shifter looks silly. plus it is attached to the wheel. if the 911 had the g25 shifter id get that.

what about a shifter on the steering column for old muscle cars? someone needs to get on that.

sticking w/my trusty Frex Modded "DFP" which comes/has more 'buttons' then what the G25 has..Don't need the 'clutch' as I like to drive 'race cars', which nowadays have no real need for a clutch anyways in RL...

is the 911 wheel a separate attempt or is it just a tarted up G25? New GT wheel is lame! No H pattern and clutch = not realistic enough for my money.

I still have my DFP, and I was expecting a new wheel to come out for GT5/GT5P so held off on the G25. But since the new DFGT is such a disappointment compared to the G25, I will consider holding off until a G-series wheel come out for succeed the G25. I expect that to come out...I mean, $150 for a wheel is a clear sign that this is the value-wheel for the average gamer. Didn't we pay over $300 for the DFP when it first came out, and the G25 as well.

And I also expect this wheel to drive just like the DFP, and not be any more precise, etc.

Will buy it, just to add to the collection. And I fell those new real-time functions will somehow be very important to have :D

A friend of mine signed up for the test program for the porche wheel.
This is where they send you a wheel to test and if you like it you can buy it at a cheaper price.
As i already have a g25 wheel i was able to compare the two wheels by going around to his place at the weekend.
The porche wheel is very smooth when turning but the pedals and gearshift to me were not a good as the g25s.
The g25 pedals have a different feel on each pedal for the throttle, brake and clutch.
The pressure on the porche pedals felt the same on each pedal apart from the throttle which was a bit lighter to press.
I did not like the two bar mounting of the gearchange assembly either it is not solid enough.
My friend is sending it back to fanatec and getting a g25 after comparing them at my place.
