Are you weirdly good/bad at certain tracks?

Disclaimer: I'm high DR.A, and I am routinely about 1.5 - 2 seconds back of the #1 time on the top 10, but this applies to anyone.

Last night I was doing qualifying laps for Big Willow (a track I haven't driven all that much, maybe 50 laps in total), I noticed I was putting down some unusually good lap times (for me at least).
After about 10 laps I was down to 1:16.8, which was just under a second off the #1 time.
Then after my first race I had some time for a few more laps and got my time down to 1:16.5 (about a tenth off the top 10), my optimal lap was 1:16.2 (about 5th on the top 10).

I've never ever been on the top 10 this late at night (11:30 pm EST), and I've never had my optimal time be anywhere close to the #1 time on the leaderboard, this all coming on a track I really don't have that much experience on. During my race I was driving low 1:17's pretty consistently, then low 1:18's when I started conserving fuel (also had a large lead so I was taking it easy)

Conversely, I have a fair bit of experience on Kyoto - but I just cannot get consistent on this track, I have relatively good speed, but my consistency sucks.

Yes! (High Dr B)

I think my win history answers this question very well lol.

I'd like to see more diversity in my list, but this is where I'm at.

In terms of where I am bad at, I am pretty bad at Maggiore even though I love the track.

I think the number of people trying that daily race affects it a lot too.

I tend to find the middle category of the 3 daily races tends to be the most competitive in terms of Top 10 times, especially if it's Gr.3.

I managed to get Top 10 on Tuesday(?) on the Gr.1 @ Interlagos which was the third race, but couldn't get within a second of the one make and middle race.

Similarly, last night was new track so everyone hammered that (as well as their safety rating) so times were super competitive. I bet the other two daily races were barely touched.

I hear you, and it makes sense.
However - even the FIA race on Big Willow last week or 2 weeks ago?
I qualified 2nd (actually dead tie for 1st) and the lobby had 6-7 DR.S drivers in it whereas I'd normally qualify top 10.

My point was that that track specifically is just a track I seem to understand naturally, but can't explain why.

I tend to be good at Dragon Trail and Suzuka East. I also randomly got 2nd in qualifying for a daily race at Interlagos, even though I hardly race the track on GT Sport (I don't know where I was later in the day as was busy). I also tend to have good qualifying performances at Northern Isle but that's because it is so simple.

I'm weirdly poor at the full Lake Maggiore layout but that's probably because the track limits are so lenient and I don't cut as much as others. Brands Hatch took me a while to be good at, but I'm finally there speed-wise, just got to make less mistakes now. Also I've never felt fully comfortable at BB Raceway.

But overall, I find that the cars are my main difference in performance as opposed to tracks.

I am actually very comfortable at Tokyo Expressway. I feel very quick there but I don't know if it's just because of the fast, flowing nature of the track or if I'm actually particularly good there. Either way, I am sad that it seems unpopular here.

And I'm bad at Nurburgring GP. I feel like it is possibly the highest skill-gap track in the game (discounting the Nordschleife obviously). So I lose out a bit there because I haven't really made up my DR through eeking out tenths through sustained practice.

I'm consistently bad on all tracks, though I do enjoy Autodrome Lago Maggiore GP, so do a little better there than most other circuits.

Not that I'm bad at any of the tracks, but I'm uncomfortable with Suzuka during races, it's so easy to make mistakes on that track especially if you drive different cars on it. During hot lap or time trial I seem to do OK though.

I'm best at Dragon Tail and Kyoto, I can almost perfect driving straight through the chicane now. I'm moderately decent at Nurb GP, but I can't seem to break that 1:59 mark yet (I can in other games but not in GTS).

I'm most competitive at Suzuka and Nurb GP (typically top 10 qualifying time, top 3 in the race at S/S). Also pretty competitive at Brands and Interlagos.

I'm absolutely rubbish at Bathurst and the fake tracks

Pretty handy around Interlagos and Maggiore (Nordschleife the rare occasion it pops up).

I don't enjoy Alsace or Willow Springs one bit and I have a magnetic attraction to the chicane penalties at Yamagiwa

I can consistently qualify top 5 for Dragon Trail if it’s Gr.3/4. Same goes for Bathurst. It’s mainly because I’ve spent the time to practice those the most the. My time trials are almost exclusively spent on one of those two (though if I’m just trying to get my daily mileage I go Chapparal 2X and Blue Moon:lol:).

That said, while I don’t practice on it much and certainly don’t race it often to know what I’d qualify, I love Kyoto. Don’t know which one. Whichever isn’t the short one and isn’t the really long one :dunce:

My strong tracks would be;
La Maggiore
Nordschleife
Monza
Toyko express highway
Dragons Tail
Yamagima

Average at;
Alsace
Nurburgring GP
Most tracks in the reverse configuration
Suzuka
Interlagos

Pretty awful at;
Brands Hatch- which pains me
Willow Springs- just no

I was also confused yesterday that after maybe 5 laps in the TT I got a 1:16.8 which then even set me on pole and then to a win. I always found Willow Springs to be an odd track and I really don‘t like it but apparently I‘m not that bad at it

My favourite tracks are Dragon Trail and the Nordschleife, I can get my stuff together on those pretty good most of the time. My performance on Suzuka is a little above average too if I‘m in the zone and the right car. I guess
Maggiore and Alsace are neither favourite tracks of mine nor am I good at them. What also constantly throws me off is Interlagos. The ovals and their new variations don‘t really turn me on either. :D

I’m the exact opposite. Nurb GP is my favorite/best track especially in the GR3 Ferrari. I think at least 75% of my wins were there.

I won’t even race the Tokyo tracks because I’m just bad there and generally dislike all the layouts.

I usually do realy well at Suzuka and recently Brands since I finally decided to put in the practice time.

Yamagiwa I know really well but have only had a few decent finishes.

I suck on the the mad max course (not arsed about that) and interlagos. Good on nurb, suzuka and maggiore. Decent on the rest.

I'm weirdly good at Kyoto Yamagiwa. Back at my first days in GTS it's one of the few tracks I can set times 1-1.5 seconds off the pace from Top 10. The only other tracks I can do that in are tracks I already knew, like Suzuka and Nurb GP. I only improved from there

Brands Hatch is the bane of my life.

It's weird. I'm good at Kyoto and Alsace (not my favs but I can say I'm competitive there) dragon trail and nurb gp are my favs but can never be consistent

The connecting esses on Suzuka have a fun half throttle rhythmic Sunday drive flow to them that feels natural and fun. This is usually where I gain massive time on the other cars.

Now if I could master all of the hairpins then I'd be awesome.

I'm unbelievably bad at Mount Panorama and since I really don't like this track, I'm struggling to get any faster - I just have no motivation to learn a track I don't like.
I also don't like Alsace, although I can drive it fairly fine.

Big Willow is probably where I'm best at. It's also my favorite track.

Lago Maggiore and Dragon Trail follow..

Suzuka is where I'm the worst at. Or Monza..

i just cannot do two laps of suzuka in a row without doing a mistake , that why i never do the FIA races there

Spent a lot of time on Suzuka, Lago Maggiore, Brands, Monza and Interlagos so tend to just drop in and within a couple of laps I'm qualifying top 3. It's no surprise that its the F1 tracks featuring in my top tracks.

A lot of others, I dont spend much time on so am very poor at. Like today I see Monza in Gr1, so I'll be on that a lot! Some days if I dont like/know the track yet I'll just miss it to avoid frustration

I'm pretty good at yamagiwa, went from 20th to 7th place in a Gr.3 race last night, what a blast it was, and some few extra heartbeats on the final lap in a close race.
I'm also fine at Dragon Trail and Alsace.

Im DRS but have real trouble with Brands Hatch.
I'm lucky if i can do 3 laps without going off.

Oh Alsace or whatever its called too, hate that track

For me, it seems to be the shorter circuits (Suzuka East, Maggiore Centre, Brands Indy). I think because I can spend 30-40 minutes perfecting every bend and braking point of a minute-long circuit as opposed to the longer tracks where I am likely to make a mistake at some point! Also, I seem to do better in the N cars - again, probably because everything it's all about timing as opposed to outright speed.

Robben, did you this table manually?

Anyway, I love Suzuka and I am fast there, mistakes are a rarity.

There are tracks that come natural, there are tracks where I have to work real hard to be fast and then there is Willow Springs - I am average in terms of pace when alone and totally dreadful when it comes to racing pace. I both make a lot of mistakes (and the layout would punish you severely) and am not generally not fast there and it's not like I am distracted by beautiful environment or something. Not my track by far.

Sort of manually. I had to reformat it for sorting purposes, but the data is all on @jasguer website

I am quite bad at Magiore as I don't drive on that track much, probably because I don't like it. The track seems too unrealistic to me, mostly the banked corner that's my least favorite corner of the track and also the track limits are a total joke here (or on any other track to be fair) and I can't force myself to cut corners.

I quite like the track itself but really struggle with the last corner and T5 (big sweeping right hander). I just can't get the braking and throttle timing correct for either
