Sony’s Japanese website reveals that Gran Turismo HD will not be given a retail release, but will be available for free via the PlayStation Network starting December 24. The company decided to forgo GTHD in favor of working on Gran Turismo 5, the true successor to Gran Turismo 4 (PS2), maybe due to development costs and the recent negative press concerning the use of micro-transactions.

Now what worries me is: "The company decided to forgo GTHD in favor of working on Gran Turismo 5".

This sounds bad.

Well I've heard similar things like this....only the first time I heard it, PD said they decided to not to do a retail release of GTHD, and decided to do only online demo iterations of GTHD, so that they could concentrate more on working on GT5. That's what I remember reading, and hopefully that website got there words mixed up or something. There's been no evidence of a cancellation of GT5.
