Just noticed at around 18:00 (GMT+8) today, the Asian Online Tournament event can be raced again (previously closed), with the leadership board refreshed. Presumably with the conclusion of the actual prized event and winners announced.

The special thing is all participants can grab the free GT Academy Special Nissan GTR, if they missed the event previously (in my situation).

This particular GTR is unlike the regular Jaguar Chromeline DLC offered in an earlier Asian event, where participants receive an email with a Redemption Code. This car is immediately available as a Car Coupon upon returning to the GT5 main menu.

Features :

  • Can be shared and visible online, but CANNOT be used (Borrow button is disabled)
  • CANNOT be gifted (car or ticket)
  • Unlike DLC, this car is ONLY available to the PSN ID who received the ticket on a PS3 system. DLC (Stealth / Chromeline) cars are available to ALL GT5 users on the same PS3, requires a redemption code entry followed by a download from PSN
  • Car racing number plate is fixed to "1", unchangable.
  • Exactly similar spec-wise to the regular GT Academy version GT-R (Golding a certain event in-game), merely with a different paint job (more sponsorship logos). Semi matte BLACK paint, not carbon fibre texture :(
  • Similar to the GT Academy Europe event gift car

Would it be possible to make an Asian account, get the car, then use it on your main account? It's just that I really want this car, but it hasn't been available to Australia yet. Thanks.

I don't think so, because even with an Asian PSN, your disc is still Australian. So you'd only get Australian GT Academy events.

That's what I was thinking. Oh well, I'll just have to wait until they maybe release it.

Is it more powerfull than the normal gtr ?? and can i participate ?

The Special GT-R has slightly more HP vs the regular Spec V'09 (500+ hp vs 487 hp).

I would assume the event is open to owners of the Asian version of GT5 (BCAS20108). Best bet is see whether it appears on your Seasonal Event list and give it a try.

Currently its listed as available from Sep 27 to Dec 31 2011.

And yet this car is STILL not available in the US, even though a model of it CAME WITH THE US COLLECTOR'S EDITION. In fact I have it sitting on my desk as I type this.
