So, both games are 60-70% off in the PS Store right now. I only really want to buy one of them, which one should I get? I figure I'll ask in the GT Sport forum since I hope to get the least biased answers, if I ask in the PCars 2 forum obviously they'd suggest PCars 2 right?

I'm probably looking for the best single player experience. I'm coming from playing GT Sport, and GTS is the only racing game I've played since GT5 however many years ago.

I'd still get my online kicks from GTS and it likely will remain my focus. This new game will just be to have fun driving and racing a career mode and maybe get the occasional online race in just for fun.

(I'll probably cave and buy both anyways but vote away!)

I haven't played AC, but have played PC2 a bit, on the Xbox when I was trying out other games after getting fed up with the weekly chores in FH4. TBH I don't really feel the urge to play PC2 now I have a PS4 and GTS, but when I did play it a bit, I thought the structure of the career mode was quite nice, so if you have spare time on your hands that you're looking to fill, I think working your way up each branch of the sport from the bottom could be good fun.

AC has very little to do Career Mode wise & is just a glorified hot lap type sim, so I voted for PCARS 2. However, if they're that cheap you should most definitely get both.

👍

Either is good. They both have strengths and weaknesses. PC2 has more tracks, night/day and weather. And bugs. AC has track surface detail and force feedback. Both have multiple AI settings that allow for a good challenge.

I've got both but if I could only have one. It would be AC. It is much better on PC though due to Mods.

ACU! I love it. It’s giving me exactly what I want out of sim racing. So much so that I’ve decided this is a hobby I’m willing to sink several grand into for a PC, rig etc. I haven’t touched GT Sport since ACU clicked for me and I don’t miss it at all. I only come on here to check in on new content and the Spasaga. And even when Goodwood comes along later today I’m not sure I’ll try it today. I’m having too much fun in ACU.

I do have the PC2 demo installed and have tried it a few times. In only trying the Red Bull Ring I don’t like the game a whole lot. It’s very well put together, the options are great and all well presented. It just doesn’t FEEL that good, especially compared to ACU which is the opposite, it feels amazing, but is not presented in the best way. It’s so good it doesn’t matter that the presentation is flawed. I really don’t care. Driving is all about the feels.

You got my hopes up there.... bought PC2 when on sale but AC has not been on sale in the PS Store I use, and still isn't.....:(
If they're both 80% off can you get both??

One nice thing about AC is that you can create your own championship, pick the amount of races on different tracks, pick the point system, pick the amount of practice and qualifying and then pick the cars you race against one by one and what livery they have. That alone is one of my favorite features of AC (and this is a feature that would have made GTS Custom Races amazing). But on console, there is a little lack of content. They do offer enough though to get into some really good races.

PC2 is absolutely great at what it does. Go into this game expecting a bug here and there. Most of the bugs don't affect the outcome of races though. Maybe some screen tearing and other graphical mishaps.
But - for the amount of content it has and the feel of the game both physics and FFB, it does good. The vintage cars and tracks are great. Rallycross is great. The different race categories are great. Let's not forget real damage, dynamic time and weather with multiple weather slots that you can pick from and tuning that goes above and beyond what GT ever had (save for adding wings and turbo kits or exhausts, ect. They don't do the engine power mods). In my opinion, for console (PS4) for only having 3 racing titles that are top tier for real racing and not arcadey stuff, Project Cars 2 is a must have. But then again, there's only 3, you should have them all.

One thing to note though coming from Gran Turismo. GT really does a great job at praising the cars so to say. The displays, the car info, the photo shots of the different angles of the cars, all that. It makes you feel like the cars are put on pedestals. They have a reward system that makes you feel like you've gained something more than just winning or finishing a race.
PC2 and AC have nothing like this. They don't even have descriptions of the cars. You will not win money or credits. You will not be exchanging stupid mileage points for wheels or helmets. When the race is over, it's over. (Except for PC2 career mode in which obviously you progress through championships). You win the thrill of the race basically. Not a big deal but it does make them a bit lack luster from what GTS or any of the GT games give you. For the price that they are at right now, it's a no question both from me.

You need to find the Ultimate Edition. That is if Asia has the same sale I do in Canada right now. For whatever reason regular AC is full price but only the Ultimate Edtion is on sale @ 60% off. I just checked again. A lot of other racing titles are at 80% but not these two, I did not remember correctly in my OP. ACU is 60% and PCars is 70%. Still a good deal since I think ACU dropped their reg price to 51.99CAD$, when I checked last month it was still at release price 79.99CAD$

Thanks - checked and the ultimate edition is still full price over here. Well, still the same price it's been for months (MYR 168 which is about CAD 54.... more than I want to pay for a game I don't think I'll play that much!)

They are both very good games, especially on a console. For the reasons you stated that I highlighted in bold, I would opt for PCars 2. There are several leagues on here that you can race with clean, and fun people to get your online fix. The career is much deeper on PCars 2 as well. That said, I occasionally play AC to do hot laps and the occasional offline race. AC feels good, that is true, but adjusting the FF and other settings in PCars 2 and it's very close in terms of feel. I will say, there's nothing like doing a day-night-day race online, with multiple weather settings and having to get your pit strategies right. . . really fun experience.

I voted PCars 2, but I would get both - as they are almost very different games. my 0.02. 👍

35.99 CAD$ for PCARS Deluxe 70% off
When I bought PC2 I just got the basic version because it was really cheap, I think I paid under 10 GBP for the disc version. It was actually cheaper to buy the DLC separately than to buy the Deluxe version, so I thought I might as well just get the basic version and add the DLC later if I feel the need for it.

If you are into sim games you owe it to yourself to get both.

If you use a wheel no problem. However, if you use a controller a lot of people complain about controller use in PC2. I've not had an issue when I have tried the controller (I'm a wheel user) but the game doesn't hold your hand when using a controller as games like GTS and FM7 do.

Wheel. An old Driving Force GT with and adapter so I can use it on the PS4. I was a bit worried it's compatibility might not be the greatest for those games. I think the adapater tricks the system to thinking it's a G29.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to play AC on the PC, instead of the PS4. The vanilla console version of AC is OK, but playing it on PC, with all it's mods, makes it a COMPLETELY new game! There are over 10000 tracks and cars available in AC for PC. Pretty much ANY car and track combo is available, for free! Do you like the Tokyo Expressway circuit from GT Sport, well, why not drive the ENTIRE Japanese Freeway in its entirety...in VR?

Yea, I am aware of the power of mods and I think my gaming PC might run AC at it's minimum specs. But I don't really have the space to have my racing rig hookup to my PC. My Console and PC are in two different rooms, my PC "chair" is my bed, I'd have to move the TV and racing rig every time I switched from PC to console.....not worth the hassle for me. So as far as racing games go I'm limited to console, until I buy a new house with a proper man cave that is.

AC has superb driving and FFB but PC2 has a cool career mode. I love hitting different tracks and cars in AC but I end up playing PC2 more.

PC2 has a demo, try it!

I like to buy both AC and PC2, but if I had to choose one it's the latter. I had gotten nearly every trophy in PC1 and I'm ready to jump ship to PC2.

Both games are must have, more even if you play with a wheel.

AC is great feedback, sounds, pure driving.
It has also a real good AI and the special events are fun and challenging,so you can have quite some fun offline.
The online on dedicated servers is really good for some custom championships with friends.

Pcars2 is pure racing, going from wec,to indy, towards GT or Rally cross with lots and lots of tracks, dynamic climatology and day night cycle all influencing on the track and car behaviour.
With all the updates it has become a great game and ironed out a lot of issues and Bugs.
The game features nowadays a great FFB and one of the best tyre models.
Really good DLC's also, the classic le Mans track is just great to emulate the "le Mans" film.

So really,go for both Sims

If you were asking about PC I would say AC but since you said PlayStation I would avoid it. Even if it was being given for free you should consider the value of your HDD space. PCARS2 has its flaws but is still a good game.

Where do you get the demo? I looked in the PS store, couldn't find it . I am curious to try it
