I spent more than 15hours trying to achieve gold at Nurburgring Sprint using a BMW M4. Gold was 1.41 but I didn't manage to beat 1'41"190. New target is 1'44" 000, that's a huge difference !!
If you failed to get gold, try again ;)

It's good to see that they tweaked the Special Events. I saw quite a bit of chatter on the official forums that tire grip went down a bit as the game matured, which is a good thing, but by time I purchased Assetto Corsa, I was now facing Special Event times that were just impossible for someone like me to achieve. Hopefully this helps!

Is Nurburgring Sprint in Assetto Corsa refers to the GP/D 3.7 km layout ? If it does, the lap time limit of 1:41 is not quick enough, that is the lap time for the Audi RS5 which was beaten by M4 by a good margin ( couple of seconds ), the M4 weighs more than 1600Kg and it was DCT. 1:44s is closer to Audi RS6 C6 lap time record which was around 1:45s ( at 3.7km layout )

The M4 official power is so misleading :) RL dyno test on stock M4 reveals it has a lot more power :)

The time for the Audi R8 Spyder 560/1640 is only 1:40.70 and I doubt the M4 is faster than that. The best time for the M4 in AC is 1:40.9. The best time in AC for the new Audi R8 V10Plus is 1:38.5 by the way.

Kunos still hasn't fully sorted the tire heating model. I suspect some of those times will change slightly when they do.

I was referring to real life time :) The M4 should have 500+PS of power if wanted to be accurate to what the real stock car would put out on dyno, and the time is from Auto Zeitung test against the Audi RS5 which has 1788kg weight, on the same day and the same driver, the RS5 did 1:41.50, while M4 with DCT 1615kg, did 1:38.90. The Nurb GP layout is not clearly mentioned, but on the time, it would be the GP/D or circuit 2 layout 1 3.629m.

It's just to show the potential lap time possible in game vs RL :D

The 1:40:70 for the R8 Spyder is the real life time as I stated. The time for the R8 V10 is from AC as I also stated, for comparison. Kunos isn't going to model the power based on some dyno figures they are going to use official company power output figures.

I also have questions about that test. The RS5, which is not in the same league as the R8 is somehow 3 seconds faster than an R8 Quattro? Within a second of an R8 Spyder? Within 2 seconds of a Nissan GT-R? Those numbers don't make sense.

Do you need proof ? The R8 Quattro, is it the 4.2 V8 ? Different condition, different driver yields different time :) The M4 was fitted with Michelin PSS tire ( factory tire )

And using manufacturer official claim is foolish and useless most of the time, as often the actual real car power is higher :) BMW has been known to undervalue their power figure, the M4 in stock form produces power more than 420PS at the wheel on low octane fuel, which is why many are surprised by it's performance IRL, as the power claimed by BMW is way below actual power. Reminds of JDM 90's power claim, but this is more extreme

The cars are officially licensed so Kunos will be limited to whatever data BMW allows them to use. If BMW says 420 then it's 420 or whatever the number happens to be. If indeed the real figures are much higher than that would explain some or all of the discrepancy between the real life lap times and the game. Kunis can't input any numbers they want they have to input the numbers are given from BMW.

Was about to post that, got treed  The dyno run was in hot and humid Socal weather, on an ideal temp ( turbo loves cooler air charge ), and better fuel ( 98 or 100 octane ), it would have put out much higher power, 430-440 wheel HP is possible on stock M4, that would be 520+ HP at the crank.

This is getting OT, I'd better stop now :)

if it were off by 5 or 6 seconds I'd be concerned. 2 seconds given all the variables is pretty darn close. Until we can match specs, drivers, tires, weather, track rubber laid down etc., comparing lap times down to the second is pretty moot.

Is there a tool in assetto corsa to print world record (or standings) for each track/car combo?
If 1'40" 9 is the best, I'm really happy with my 1'41" 1. Thanks mate, you made my day :)

Btw, I can't help in your debate about horsepower. I except to see virtual laps time a little faster than real because you can practice and you don't take the risk to crash your beautiful BMW M4.

I was referencing the RSR standings but not everyone uses RSR so it's not a true official world record. I use the Microsoft snipping tool to copy/paste it.

Fun topic between Jonny and Ridox. I do remember reading an automobile magazine article years ago stating how conservative BMW was in rating power and torque. This was especially true of the German versions of the "M" power cars. Mercedes was very much the same for their regular model line.
I don't recall anything pertaining to AMG.
