I dont like this one much.
The understeer im getting is mind-numbingly long, and i have time to go get a cup of tea with the wheel elastic-banded to the radiator on full-lock, while it takes the first/last corner onto the straight.
Seeing as i spend so much time re-starting due to chicane errors, ive left the elastic band on there. It's just more convenient.
Anyway!
Im using 290 gearing, as i need 2nd, and its too short/long on any other setting other than that or 300, and 300 means 5th is too long, so 290 it is for me.
Im still totally unsure how to tackle the train trax, and ive tried combinations of 2nd, then third, then just 3rd gear to get round, but neither seem to offer much of an advantage if my line is all wrong.
But i have managed to complete two clean laps, the second of which is mildly faster, so i'll post the splits.
T1: 18.633 (had an 18.3 but never again
that's up to Ron now.
)
T2: 1'01.343
I preferred last weex combo over this anyday of the week, but still i just seem to keep hitting re-start.
Here's a quick VEXD lap:
128mph over the start/finish, down to 4th and plant it into the wall, erm, i mean fit through the chicane, then down to second and tight to blue rumbles for the left.
Back upto 4th before i cross the second chicane, using all the kerbs, and down to third for the third chicane, where im not sure which gear i should be in.
Balance the throttle round the long (fall asleep) left, then flat and change to 4th uphill, then 5th at the crest, keeping a tight line close to the inside barrier.
Down to 2nd, and just miss the inside wall of the right, then upto 3rd and do a james bond two wheel thing on the inside kerb on the right, lift off and power through the left, then drop to 2nd for a millisecond and back to third for the next, tighter left, and back upto 4th approaching T2.
Down to 2nd and back upto 3rd as you go left on the hilltop, then 4th before the first jump, and 5th mid-air before the second.
I love the next right, its nice to aim the nose for the inside wall, then drift to just miss it in 3rd, everytime. Its the only corner im consistent at.
I stay in 3rd heading upto the final double apex left, as the car rev-limits just when i want to slow down.
Down to 2nd, and attach elastic band, and put kettle on.
Do not redline this car, it doesnt help at all to thrash it, instead, change gear at 6,500rpm, or at the point at which your redline begins.
Good luck all.
