Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro ‘09, did I screw it up?

I'm new to GT and would really appreciate your help learning how to use and tune my Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro ‘09...

So I bought this car, principally because I liked how it looked, I know Audi's great reputation for touring cars and I like the brand. I was hoping for a tight-handling car that would help me in the corners.

But I am wondering if I screwed it up by adding an Aero kit. After adding the Aero kit and upgrading the HP to about 620, I can hardly brake the car without my wheels spinning out. Nurburing is just a hopeless exercise.

I have tried the following:

- Adjusting the aero kit down to the lowest setting 25 (doesn't help)
- Adding Torque Control to the drivetrain (helps with corner holding but doesn't help my brakes)

Can anyone provide suggestions and an explanation of why they might help salvage this vehicle.

Thanks,

Sheer

Hi, i'm new to the forum, but i think i can help you (i think...)
So i have bought also the Audi R8 V10, I have tuned it up to the max and it's now with 850cv, but i didn't make any modification in the exterior, spoilers and etc. The car spiles in all the corners, and the solution sor me to that was putting the Medium tires in front and the soft tires in the back. as simple as that and now it's a beast. hope that it work for you.

No, the aero kit is good for the R8. My R8 is my favorite car. Just turn the downforce up all the way and put on come racing slicks(soft). could even reinforce the chasis. It helped my R8 ALLOT!!!

Thanks to everyone who replied, I am hoping to hear from others. Maybe we can figure this car out as it does have some nice performance attributes, especially great power in early gears which should make it fantastic for tracks with lots of corners.

I found this tune which has helped: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=135968

This tune did fix the grip and most of the steering issues, but it can't solve the breaking problem which results in a lot of understeer when your breaks lock up and you can't get over. Still, tuning the brakes so there's more pressure in the front helps because the car is much heavier in the back with the mid engine.

The worst part of the braking this car is that coming into a hairpin at ~130mph requires a stop from such a distance that it's easy to end up locking your brakes and being unable to turn. I find this frustrating because frankly the braking radius on this Audi is as bad as that on the Maserati Gran Turismo, even though the base GT weights 500 pounds more than my lightweight, tuned Audi!

Any suggestions for tunes that I can try? Would it be advisable to create some "oversteer" in the car recognizing that it has trouble getting around corners, and how would I go about doing this?

I will try this tomorrow and let you know how it goes, it's definitely a strategy I hadn't thought of. Thanks.
