Audi R8 Blues

Hi

I have two Audi R8.
The first is the yellow one (No.2) that I brought new so it feels more like mine as I had to work for the credits, the second is the red one (No.1) that I won in the 24hr Nurenburg.

The yellow Audi has a stage 4 turbo fitted and is at about 12000Km but for testing I do not use the turbo so BHP is at about 745BHP. This was my fastest car and so much fun to drive but does age affect these things? All settings are on default, Hard Racing Tyres front and back, Driver Aids at 0, 0, 5.

This car is almost impossible to drive, at top speeds the car is squerly and any kind of movement on the wheel and it spins out. I like to test at Grand Valley and the little kink at the end of the main straight just before the right hander sends this car flying.

If I take the Red Audi with about 815BHP after an oil change, same settings and tyres but only has about 30Km on the clock, it flys around the kink and I have so much more control over the car.

I guess after this long post, what I am trying to get at does mileage affect the cars this much or car the car be damaged? (I did not think there was a damage engine in GT4). Is there anything i can do for the yellow Audi or is it time to scrap it and break the red one?

Thanks,

Ross

Hi there, Welcome to GTP!

Couple of points before I start...

1) The Audi R8 isn't won in '24hr Nurenburg', or even in the 24hr Nürburgring race, but at Circuit de la Sarthe 24hr I.
2) If you did a search for this, I imagine this question has been answered many times before.

Anyway, I'll answer your question. What you are experiencing in your high-mileage R8 is chassis damage. As you drive a car, the chassis deforms until the damage becomes very noticeable in the handling and control.

Go to the Audi dealer, the tuning shop, and then the 'Other' screen, and buy the 'Rigidity Refresher Kit'. Let me know if that helps 👍

Hi Dark Elite

Sorry my memory is failing me, I knew I won the car, just could not remember where and that was only last week :guilty:

I have the rigidity refresher kit on the car but only got it last night before my last test. It does not seem to have helped.

I made sure I brought that for the newer red audi before I hit the track.

Thanks,

Ross

It sounds like you bought the rollcage and not the chassis refresh. The refreshening is what you want for the squirrely one, it's the option with the "recycle mark" in it.

Do not apply the rollcage to the yellow one before refreshening it. If you do, at least do not save the game or your car is gone for good. The rollcage locks the chassis to the present state, and if it was worn when you applied it, it will be worn forever. Just refresh the car, the rollcage isn't even needed in cars like that.

Hope this helps. :)

Greycap, this sounds very much like something I would do to waste a 4.5 mill car. Will check tonight and hope for the best.

If I put the roll cage in the new Audi, will it affect anything?

Ross

If the car is new it will only stiffen it a bit, maybe necessitating some retuning but it can be done without worrying. It's all about driver preferences, some of us like stiffer cars, some like softer. :)

If the worst has happened for your yellow Audi, take a deep breath, maybe swear a bit, and get money for a new one if you like. After all, it's only a game (but it really feels to be more sometimes). 👍

Look at it like this:

You know when you driving and you experience the G-forces?

Well, those little forces are like tiny soldiers, terrorising you rcar and than Bam! They finally won the battle against you car so you go to Medical were they'll fix it up to normal, after that you buy the increase so you have the FBI with you, next time those soldiers will be doing longer before they strike :D

Yep, I'm in agreement with Greycap. He's spot on, as always :)

I hope we've answered your original question :dopey:, and I hope you haven't fitted a rollcage to the worn-down R8... It would be a waste of that gorgeous car! Let us know. 👍

(Yep, I know I'm biased, guys :D)

Well to put it plainly, I am a dumb ass.
Fitted the roll cage to the yellow audi.
I did have the refresh option, guess I have just finished my time with this car and at least I have the new red one.

Sold the yellow audi and got new tyres for the red one and started the GT World Champs again. Man I love that audi, it is so fast and nimble. Can be a little scary in some of the high speed corners but still keeps me on my toes right up until I cross the line.

Decided I am not putting a stage 4 on this baby, going to drive her as she is and let her kick some nissan and toyota ass. (Don't flame me guys, on the road I drive a Toyota - Legend 35 and my wife drives a brand new Audi A4 2.0 T FSI with sports line so I love both manufacturers)

Now I just got to get thorugh work today so I can get back to my precious GT4.

don't worry about the yellow R8, you have a new one, and that's the important thing!! but don't waste the new one.......

don't worry, i don't think anyone will flame you *gg*
