This has got to be one of the best cars :audi: have ever pumped out of there German Factories?.. surely... :star:

Coming to the UK soon - the fastest fat man car on the planet

UK :uk: prices for the world’s most rapid production saloon and estate models – the Audi RS 6 quattro and RS 6 Avant quattro – have now been confirmed in advance of their British début in September. The pair will cost £57,700 and £58,800 on the road respectively.

The cars are powered by twin-turbocharged 4.2-litre V8 petrol engines with a useful 450bhp! Power is fed to the wheels via the quattro four wheel drive system and a new Dynamic Ride Control system to keep the wheels firmly planted. The 0-62mph sprint can be covered in just 4.7 seconds (Avant 4.9 seconds), and 124mph can be achieved in an even more impressive 17.6 seconds (Avant 17.8 seconds). Top speed is electronically limited to 155mph.

Inside the new Audi RS 6 quattro also features a high level of standard equipment. There's Alcantara headlining with either carbon fibre or wood trim and heated leather Recaro sports seats. Sounds are provided from a Bose system with CD autochanger and a standard fit satellite navigation system incorporating a television.

Formula 1-style shift controls mounted on the perforated leather sports steering wheel allow the driver rapid access to the five ‘manual’ gears offered by the standard five-speed tiptronic automatic transmission.

Stopping power is provided by 8-piston front ventilated discs and single piston ventilated rear discs, backed by ABS and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD).

Audi UK is set to import between 350 and 450 examples of the Audi RS 6 quattro, but supply will not be capped and can be increased if demand proves to be greater than anticipated following the September on-sale date.

Impressive? Could this possibly be a :bmw: :m:5 beater?

Yes - cheaper and quicker.

Give us a little time to redesign the five, and you'll see the powerful V-10.

Nothing wrong with a wagon that'll kick the arse of a lot of sports coupes! The performance you want, the carrying convenience you deserve!

Actually, Audi have a long history of doing serious high performance wagons. I think the RS4 was a wagon as well, wasn't it?

Yep, sure was - did Australia get the RS4? I wish America did. We miss out on all the high-preformance wagons. We never officially got any M5 wagons, the E55 wagon, or any Audi high-preformance wagon until the current RS6...

We got the RS4 - I think we got 5-10 and they were all sold 6 months before they got here.

As to the others, I didn't even know there was an M5 wagon!

The E55 wasn't officially available here, but if you went down to your Mercedes dealer and waved a nice deposit in his face they could be obtained, much like manual E-Classes.

Even though the :audi: RS6 is quicker than an :bmw: :m: 5 I wonder which one drives the best remembering that the Audi is all wheel drive and the beemer is rears only? Any thoughts 💡

I would much rather have the RS6. I love Audis. I love their style and their performance. Having owned a quick 4wd car, I can attest to the superiority of this drivetrain over FR/FF. I really want an RS6!

We use Audi A6 Wagons (Quattro) at Mosport park, as our 1st response vehicles on track (Audi is a primary sponser). WOW!!! These cars rock. The track is approx. 2.5 miles and a TransAm car will lap at approx. 1'10-1'15 . I had a lap of about 1'55 in one of these "wagons". The quattro drive is incredible. The Tiptronic trans is the most responsive auto shifter I've ever used. If the RS6 has more punch than the A6 (obviously) then the M5 is dead meat. The only weakness is the tires, but when the quattro goes to work as you set her to drift its like driving in GT3. I wish I could have one of my own. Maybe they won't miss just one...?

Ahhh, gotta love the horse power wars.
Its nice to see Audi at the forefront of automotive muscle.
The reigns have finally been handed to another marque and thats the Audi. How can you not agree more??
With subtle styling and no cues of the aggressive package within, this car will rock the world of anything coming at it.
I voted that I wasnt worried about both. Wanna know why?? Because both manufacturers are German and Im German, so how can a man not be happier. ;) :D
