If any of you guys have watched the videoclip for their song Show Me How To Live by Audioslave, I would love to know what car were they driving in that clip?
I'm not an American, and from where I come from, those cars are nothing but a distant dream. Hope you guys could tell me the car in that video.

Thank you.

It's a Dodge Challenger. I'm not a large Mopar fan (the old Mopar, now DaimlerChrysler consisted of Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, and Imperial for those who don't know.), but I would guess it's around a '70 model.

lemme point something out. this video is somewhat a tribute to "vanishing point", a 1970's roadmovie in wich Kowalsky, asomewaht easyrider kinda driver, bets he can drive an all new challenger from Denver to St Francisco in less than 15 hours. along th way, many cultural and countercultural signs and references to the USA of the 70s are highlighted in one very wild trip. guided by a black DJ off a radiostation, Kowalsky avoids the cops, the scenery and the cultural colision of 70's rebelion to bring you down the road at full 440 ci throttle. a really cult roadmovie, I reccomend it VERY much. you can find a review here and here are some images off the movie:

I really liked Audioslave doing kinda tribute to this classic cult film. it was impressively cool when I saw it some years ago. Id LOVE to get it in DVD. maybe I will. for now, Id like to see the Audioslave video once more. well, there was my little history class. hope it added something!!

That's such a great film vanishing point. So's the Audioslave video. Quite a good recreation. Yep that's a charger btw. Also that Jag E-type in the video would of so beaten the charger :irked: . O well.

that is a CHALLENGER, for gods sake. both cars are SO different, and people keep getting them wrong. and you are pretty dumb if you think a jag E-type would beat a challenger. much less one with a hemi. go take history classes and get some glasses before making statements...

its a difference of about 150 hp... not to mention transmission and tire settings... heh... oh, its laughable.

hmmm...maybe you should have my location as it would suit you a lot better.

Ummm, I hate to rain on your parade, wee_man, but Grassroots Motorsports recently did an autocross test, and believe it or not, a well-restored and mechanically sound E-Type roadster got thoroughly trounced by a stock Honda Odyssey minivan. E-Types are wonderful cars and nothing compares to the romance of driving one, but they are not all that great in performance.

The General Lee was a Charger.

The Dodge Challenger is the same body as the Plymouth Barracuda, iirc. the Charger is a bigger car that shares platforms with the Plymouth Satellite I believe, and later with the Chrysler Cordoba. the MKI Charger is based on a Dodge Coronet, iirc.

All I merely stated was that the General could haul ass compared to anything else mentioned already.

no, you can stay where you are. I dont want your location. ugh. >.<

as for the Etype lightweight jag... well, NO. even with the aluminum V12 engine, a Type E jag wouldnt stand a chance to even a 54 corvette (yes, the one with six cylinders, because the V12s on those things are too slow and react and accelerate very very kindly. too refined to the pint that they are not for performance cruising, but for flawless commuting. you couldnt even see a challenger, even a 318 one, in ANY kind of race (despite how it looks, the E-type is a steering brick) if you were on an E-type.

point made.
I was more or less pretty much more compairing them to when I saw an E-type and a ligthweight e-types at Goodwood Revival and they beat a Corvette Stingray hands down. But that's on a race track so, doesn't really compare.

its a 1970 Challenger R/T like the one from vanishing point. if you've seen the movie listen to the song closely and you under stand the song compleatly. btw that is one of if not the best car movie ever made and it was made in 1971;)

just one part you forgot ;) kowalsky works for a car delivery service and he bets his supplier the tab for the speed he's getting that he can make it from Denver to St Francisco in less than 15 hours.

I dunno if you want to count Le Mans, but that's certainly one of the best if not the daddy.

O_o whoa, really?? well, I had no idea. for all things Ive read and know about both cars (not the vette, the challenger), Id really be sure that the dodge could make little pieces out of the jag. it would be interesting to wathc such a race. and, now that you mentioned the vette vs Etype thing, It made me remember Jan & Dean's dead man's curve, cool surf song about the race 'tween these two cars. damn. I cant find it on my CDs :irked:

Yeah, it was a good race all the way through the pack. Although I would imagine the thing that helped the Jag the most was that the straights did have quite a few kinks in it and the course is a flowing series of corners. But down the straights the Jag also had the legs.
