Aura shakers: Wiring and amps?

Hi, I've got an Aura bass shaker on my rig being driven by a cheap amp, that adds nicely to the immersion. I found a guy in Australia selling them cheap, so I picked up a couple more.

Two questions.

At the moment, I've got a switch on one line to the speaker, so I can easily turn the shaker on and off. I really like this, because I find the shaker distracting if I'm not racing, and it blunts the effect for when you are racing. If I install another shaker, can I run a common ground signal for both, and put the switch on this line, so controlling both shakers with one switch?

I tested both shakers with the cheap amp I've got, and it couldn't handle the load. Not even close. So I grabbed a 50w RMS / channel Kenwood amp I have and gave that a go. I had to drive it harder than I thought, but the effect was so strong it made a lot of noise in the seat, and I'll need to cushion it with something. The thing that bothers me is the amp got pretty hot, pretty quick. I just checked and it has two ohm settings, >8 and <8. It was set to >8, and I guess these shakers like low ohms. Is a 4ohm amp going to be OK driving these?
