Yeah it's classic and under motorized , 71 hp is not enough on this car , but I like it either way :P

Yes, you are right ... my father in law has one.
I drove the car and I must admit it was enough because the car is only 900 kg, but a 1600 cc would certainly be a better option.

Yeah a 1500 cc or 1600 cc would be a better option, but they didn't think about that , unfortunately :(
 
The hot setup on the Austin 1300 favoured by tarmac tearaways at the time was the fitment of a Shorrocks centrifugal supercharger - the mechanic who serviced my mums mini had one - Mum had to borrow it once when her car wasn't ready in time and it frightened her silly!

The above picture shows an installation on a Mini, but it would have looked very similar on an Austin 1300. I remember travelling in one of these cars for the first time and couldn't believe how comfortable and luxurious it was with such a smooth ride - but at the time I was used to a 1959 Mini!
