TVR, the participation for your competitions is weak and getting weaker. We gave you a list of suggestions of how to improve the format to include more people and make it more interesting, so I think maybe we should all re-organize the style so that GTPers would be more inclined to participate. I've got little time left for photography, and most of the pretty cars are in garages for the cold season, but I'd be willing to help and participate, as long as we can build this so that it is more interesting.

I am not changing the format, because the one I am using has worked for a very long time on some of the car forums I visit.

For what? To lay out just like the General Photography Competition? That was created having in account everyone’s interest? And after it is created, no one seems to enter? There is no purpose in discussing about changing ones competition format, where everyone says it will enter, and then when we see there is no entries...

I've been happy with this format for quite a while. My only complaint here is (unavoidable due to forum rules I guess) that the max photo size is 900 pixels and that we need to make a link to it with a thumbnail. Takes a bit more time than usual, but I will keep entering anyways.

I suppose that this is true too, not much interest in general to qualify for a popular, well-participated competition.

Does not mean it will work here.

I would really like to see what GTP feels if the rules are switched to UCP's, which has been running for 3.5 years and has only 4 times ever seen entries below 3. I believe it could work much better if themes are added to spice it up.
UCP
• The deadline is etc.
• The photograph can contain any non-automotive image (other than adulterous material)
• The proposed picture must be your own and not found on the net.
• The photograph must be attached using the UCP system. Any picture not attached using the UCP system will not be in the voting thread.
• Your image may be up to 800 pixels wide or tall.
• Photograph may contain post-processing editing
• It is preferred that you state enhancements made, but not necessary.
• The photograph must be taken no earlier than three months before start date
• Each photographer cannot vote for himself, they must vote for the others.
• Any users who enter and vote for themselves automatically receive a 2 week penalty from the competition and all votes previously given to his/her photo are removed.
• The entry must contain the following information in the same order :

User name
Subject matter/photo title
Date taken
Camera Type | additional information you feel important

Personally I would prefer a more of a theme based comp. It can remain automotive but maybe make it more specific, like colour, B&W or lines etc... anyway, also I think a week is probably a little too short of a time. I don't know about you all but I have a pretty busy life so fitting in personal photography time is pretty hard. If we are given more time, say two weeks or more, we probably would see more entries per comp. Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents anyway.
