I wish I'd held out and bought the D40x rather than the D40! Just can't match the clarity you get from 10mp rather than 6mp...

I see nothing wrong with your shots.

I have the same MPs as SPhilli911 and his are more clearer than my shots. It just comes down to skill and how stead your grip is. I need much more practice but it will come eventually. I bought the non VR lens kit (which meant I could afford it) but maybe a VR lens wouldn't go astray with me.

I think Scaff is running with 6MP still....

Could also be the lens I suppose. And by the point of the Audi photo I was on manual focus only... the AF has died on my 18-55mm lens! And yeah, I don't have VR...

The clarity in your shots homeforsummer, are fine. My friend used to have a D40 and his shots looked the same as mine for the most part. I don't think MP matters much unless the photos are huge.

I wish I had known you wanted a D40x, though. I sold it with a ton of accessories for $350 and got a D90. I got ripped off! lol

I am indeed, and here is mine for the week.

Fuji S2 Pro w 50mm f1.8

I was stuck for time on this and had no library shot that I was happy with, so on the way back home from work yesterday I took a shot that I had been planning in my mind all day.

Shot at 1600 ISO (1/125 @ f16) to deliberately add in as much grain as I could, I then set to work in PS to try and get the shot I originally had in my mind. Not that of a nice clean brochure shot of a wheel, rather one that had just finished a bit of a B-road blast (and this one had done just that).

I've smoothed the grain without removing it using Noise Ninja, added a blur to the image that I have dark blended, desaturated the image and then cut the BMW and M-Sport logos back in so they are sharper and add a hint of colour back. Finished it with a touch of vignetting to draw the eye in and bit of USM to make sure the grain, noise and blur don't rob the image of too much definition (only used around 40% USM).

I quite like the end result, its a bit more 'artsy' than I normally go for, but it will be interesting to see what everyone else makes of it. No matter what I certainly enjoyed creating it.

First off, as some may have noticed I've not been particularly active in this section of the forums recently, I've had a distinct lack of events that I've been to recently (especially motorsports) so at the moment I'm in a situation where I don't have much new material to show. However, that should change soon.

This was a shot taken at my second (proper) motorsport event at Rockingham, I saw this little Polo coming up the entrance slope and thought it looked quite cool, so I got the photo of it, I like how sharp the car appears, the dirt specs on the road as well as the gentle blur leading onto the track in the background.

Lovely photo, but I swear you've entered that shot in this competition before...I don't really know what the rules are regarding that though. :boggled:
Oh, I probably did enter it. I lost track. lol

Who thought it was a good idea not to allow entries to be changed?

I think it has been submitted before. I haven't checked yet, but I am pretty sure. I guess the original rules didn't consider that possibility! So I've altered the rules, so you can change your entry once.

EDIT: It was Auto Competition 30 that you entered it. ^^ Don't blame you for not remembering, that was in April!

Unfortunately, I'm leaving now - so this contest will close when I come back in about 5 hours or so. So it will close around 10:00 GMT. Thank you. ^^; Feel free to change or submit until then!
