Winner: Week 70 - Theme chosen by Speedster502

img8864lres.jpg

THEME: Their words: "Whole car.

Erm....so I'm basically saying to show me shots of whole cars, not detail stuff, macro angles, etc just the whole car. Try and make it so then it's concentrating just on the car with no other primary distractions. [For example]... landscapes or other things going on. I think thats what I mean."*

*If you have any questions about the theme, I'm sure Speedster will be glad to answer them. 'Cause believe me, even I barely know what's going on in his head.

The rules:

-Each competition's voting will end on a Frida(in this case, Saturday - but it is usually Friday) at 5pm GMT. This gives chance for people to engage in religious activities, rest and time with family on Sunday.

-Entries must of be of "actual sized" vehicles, as opposed to sub scale models. Non-running concept cars are allowed, however.

-Entries must be in by 5pm on a Wednesday (in this special case: Thursday), no exceptions. If your work is not submitted by then then you must wait until the next week.

-All entered photographs
must have been taken between January 2008 and the present day.

-Enteries must be posted as a thumbnail without extending 400pixels on the longest side. Full sized images may be no larger than 900pixels on their longest side.

-You must only submit your own photographs, do not post anyone else's whether from the internet or if someone you know took the photograph.

-Any watermark you place on your image must be in any corner of the image as long as it does not obstruct the subject of the image.

-Only one photograph per person. You can change your entry only once.

-You must not vote for your own photograph when the Poll is up. Only vote for a photograph taken by another entrant.

-The photograph must be submitted with the following information: Subject, Location, Date and Camera used.

-Levels, Curves, Colour Balance, Brightness/Contrast, Hue/Saturation, cropping, or anything else capable in the development process or with filters and common special lenses are allowed to use in Photoshop or other image editing softwares. Also, Unsharp Mask may be used.
Other adjustments and effects are not allowed to be used in your picture.

-No HDRI shots allowed

Entries must be in on the Thursday at 10pm GMT.
The poll will be up at 10:30pm GMT on this day and will end on a Saturday at 10:30pm GMT.

Thank you for taking time to read this and I will hope to get a good number of entries on the 25th of March.

This theme was hard, I have a ton of photos but most of them have a background and aren't focusing just on the car itself. Then I remembered my NAIAS pictures and found a pretty good one, granted the subject vehicle is pretty uninspiring.

Edit: scrap that, changed my mind - looks worse posted here than I thought it would.

Great shots guys, thats exactly what I meant. I really like HFS' shot looks really quite interesting.

I thought I'd do the liberty of sorting out your preview/link to full image for you. If you just paste the code below (in the HTML brackets) into your post then it will put the image below in (which links to your fullsize image). 👍

I love H,F,S's shot but it sort of defeats the objective of no other primary distractions.
Just my opinion sorry mate don't mean to offend.

No worries 👍 I disagree, but no offence taken. The shot would look all the worse if I'd cut out the lighting thing above the car.

I'm not going to name names but several of the other shots also have a lot more going on in them than the car, or perhaps shots where the background is more distracting than it was intended. It's almost unavoidable having a shot with absolutely nothing in the background.

I'll give Speedster the final call given that he came up with the theme. He already seems to have given it approval but I'll give him the chance to make an official call.

Yes cool mate I must say there a fantastic aray of lights thats the first thing I was drawn to. And I agree on your other comment.
See what rubish I enter this week. lol

Has anyone tried doing the 3/4 top view angle?
looks sorta like this:

THIS IS NOT A SUBMITTED ENTRY.
it's actually one of the older photos took back in gt4

Uhh, well. I don't often carry a ladder with me when I go to events. So no.

You be surprised how often you can use everyday objects to get awesome angles. I found lamp polls make for something good to jump up on and various stair structures work too.

Nice one 80Y 2C2 👍

I really didn't know what to enter for this weeks comp so I just went with this:

Formula 3
Wakefield Park Raceway
7 March 2010
Canon 5D

Not exactly my first year taking photographs here...but good advice. Hard to find those things in empty fields though.

It's always wise to pack a jetpack.

Mine won't fit in the car.

Still haven't got colour/contrast/saturation etc down yet... probably ought to start my own thread...
