Hmm... Wasn't expecting this theme. I'll see what I can do.

Does it have to be a race car?

Nope, any vehicle as long as it has tires.

I figured I'd make it easier this time around.

Can the tyre be actually not attached to the car? If so then I've got a shot for this.

It's showing a little bit of tire, just a little tease I guess.

Am I the only one who doesn't use a fancy pants DSLR?

Erm, I think there is one or two. But most people use their "fancy pants DSLR" because they work better than a conventional camera and produce a much higher quality picture. Usually anyway but that can be down to the user :P

Well, it's an "Automotive" photography competition. So that would imply automobiles only.

Hm, although I know this isn't directly related but the model competition (which runs at the same time as this competition) has always allowed bikes (unless a specific theme has been picked). So I can't personally see why they can't be allowed, after all a automobile is technically a self propelled vehicle. I do believe a motorcycle comes under that.

But it's up to the theme picker, and Longbow.

That is what I was thinking.
I'll wait until Longbow gets here. It is the only decent pic of a tire that I have, all the rest are mediocre.
Cheers

Hang on, does this mean you were at Yas Marina for the opening round of the FIA GT1? If so I'm very, very jealous! And nice shot 👍

Thanks :) And yep, I was there :D I wanted to go and see the circuit anyway so it made sense to time it with the event! Only went along for the qualifying day because I was busy the next day, but it was pretty cool even so.

Can't say the circuit had the charm of UK circuits though. Nor the access to different vantage points you get here.

At some stage I'll get around to uploading some photos I took there. There's nothing too impressive but I'm sure people will appreciate them.
