You'd have to make wholesale changes to the floorpan from the driver's seat backwards, and to the rear suspension - there's no way it would be worth the money. You'd be better off trying to find an old Subaru Legacy RS.

That's a big, big motor to fit in a small engine bay. It'd cost A LOT of money.

(Unless I'm wrong, and the engine codes are the same.)

You're better off trying to stuff a Turbo'd 4G63 in the Diamante, the drivetrain may still work.

Why not just get the Diamante (I think) VR4?

Both 3000GT and Diamante share both engines...cept thwe diamante engine is detuned for the old folks who bought it..

Ill probably check on the Galant VR4 in Canada..

Why not turbocharge the Diamante? Just get a manifold, turbo, wastegate, and BOV..Errr...better off with a Blitz BOV, from a salvaged 3000GT? It'll be hard as hell to convert it to AWD and will cost a fortune. Deffinetly not worth it for a '92, it'd cost 3x what the car is worth.

Yeah, Galant, that's what I meant. They're available in the US, too, but getting hard to come by.

But wouldnt you be suprised if you saw a AWD/turbocharged Diamante? 😈

If you can weld yourself, it is easy. Just time consuming.

You would need ALL the suspension from the 3000GT. that includes mounting points, and the middle of the floorpan.

Hell guys, engine space is not a problem, since I know people that have fitted V8's into 510 Datsuns. The routing for the pumpkin in the rear is the problem.

Unless you are a fairly decent fabricator, don't attempt.

Check out www.dsmtalk.com ... my old hangout. 3000GT's and Diamante's arn't DSM's, but they'll be able to give you better advice.

I completely understand wanting to be "that guy with the AWD, Turbo'ed DIamante", but it's A LOT of money and work to convert it to AWD. You'll need to fabricate housings and brackets for a rear differential and rear alxles....that will be the hardest part. I leared this through experience while working on a race team a few years back. We convered a Porsche 924 (or 928, I forget) from RWD to AWD and it was a BIT*CH to get proper alignment for the front axles and positioning for the LSD. It's a HUGE undertaking requiring a lot of downtime for a street-driven car. My advice is to do a Mistubishi Mirage/ Lancer Evo converstion....which we've done before (minus the AWD)...if you're looking for something that'll make people say "whoa, holy ****, look at that..."

Isnt the Diamante the Magna here in Aus.

It certainly is now, but I'm not sure of the '93 model. They look like the TR/TS Verada, but I'm pretty sure we didn't start exporting Veradas to the US until fairly late in the TR/TS life, say, around 1996 or so.
