B-Spec Bob and pitting

What is it with B-Spec Bob and not pitting? I am running 1000 miles! and I am B-Specing some of it because I can't sit at my PS2 all day. Anyway, he waits until the tires are bright red before pitting. Is there anyway to get him to pit earlier other than telling him to or is this something that he learns on his own?

As you race with Bob, he gains Skill, (Points) The higher his points, the better the driver he is. So, yes, he will eventually learn when it pit and when not to pit. But this can also come down to what setting you have him on, if you have him on Push Hard, he will drive as fast and recklessly as he can without crashing, but then when his tires start to ware, he will stay out, trying to get as many laps in as he can.

I have two questions for you; How far in front are you? and What setting is Bob on?

Well, the first race I did was at the Ring and I have a huge lead by the time he should be pitting, maybe 1 or 2 laps on the competition (using a fully modded Ginetta G4 - a car I have lovingly named "The Little Rascal"). Anyway, I have him on setting 3 (Stead) and he decides to pit a lap or two after he should and starts to spin out around corners unless I put him on 1.

Okay, that indicates that he hasn't had enough training for the race, or enough practice in the car.

Have you done many races with the car in B-Spec? And once you're finished, can you tell me how many points you have for your B-Spec driver?

Well a couple of things here.
1) The 'ring, being such a long track really can punish Bob for not pitting after 2 or 3 laps. Because it is so long.
2) The Ginetta G4, fully modded, would be tough to handle even for for an expert Bob.

My advice would be, try a different car, or reduce some of the modifications on the G4.

OK. Just started the third race in the championship and Bob didn't have any problems with Opera Paris so I am going to see what happens. I think you are right in saying that the Ring and the car are what is giving Bob so many problems. Thanks for the advice.

Mostly the 'ring.

Bob decides to pit exactly when his tires need. it. On a normal course, this means that his tires will be undriveable for at most half-a-minute to a minute.

On the Nurburgring, if Bob hits his "pit now" preset point right after he passes the pitlane, he's in a whole heap of trouble. That means seven to eight minutes of driving on rubbish tires.

On Sarthe, watch out for, I think its called, Mulsanne? track map provided by AMG.

The big brake then corner just before T4

Bob will generally always vist the sand on many laps. Especially with Fully Modded Classic cars.
I was doing this with Bob when I first started out many moons ago, using a Shelby Cobra.
He got stuck in the sand and hit the wall.
Bob would then reverse a little, and then forward straight in to the wall again.
Least to say I was stuck in the wall for approx 20 minutes, untill I hit the reset switch.

Yeah I saw him do that too. Was sitting there screaming at my TV, to the annoyance of my wife who was trying to read a book. For some reason suddenly hearing, "OW COME ON YOU STUPID DRIVER! KEEP IT OUT OF THE SAND WHY DON'T YOU! :nervous: :grumpy: 👎", is somewhat off-putting when you are really into a book. Was funny though, if she was a cat she would be stuck to the ceiling right now, ala Tom and Jerry.
