I see all these threads where people are like "just put your b-spec driver on and walk away and come back to a victory"

Yet when I start the race I'll take the lead, walk away with like 10 second lead with 5 laps left and then come back with 1 lap and i'm down to 1 second, how does he go from that far up to that little up? I mean why does he lose so much ground, i've watched him just start slowing down from lap to lap, taking corners slower and accelerating slower...

is there something i can do so that he doesn't do that without having to sit around and constantly tell him to "pace up" or "maintain pace" and stuff...is there something I can do that will have him stay aggressive without getting outta control and not get stagnant and slow up...

People who "set it and forget it" have LVL20+ drivers. You can't do that with level 10 drivers.

Try to keep his temperament neutral. He will win races and level up. When you get to the endurance races you can pretty much leave him alone as long as you have a really good car.

thank you, that definitely explains what I've been witnessing over the past couple hours. He's leveled up a couple times and he's getting better at racing so I'm sure by the time I get to endurance racing he'll be legit and kicking major butt

Hmm, my level 21 Bob will still fall asleep after a while and go massively slower by something like 10s a lap (yesterday I saw 1:45s at Fuji instead of 1:34). He will go faster by himself only if the others catch up. So unless you give Bob a car that's faster than the rest even with him fully cooled down, him pulling away is not going to happen.

I just can't beleive 2 things about B-Spec. 1/ That unless your car has about double the BHP of the rest of the field you don't seem to get anywhere, 2/They named one of the drivers A.Gay - priceless

Is it true that at some point in B-Spec you'll win a Zonda R? I want that car so badly but don't want to drop 3/4 of my credits on it.

Did a little experiment with my Lvl 17 B-Spec the other day as I wanted to see if I could leave him alone for a 10 lap race. Got to the front and had a healthy 30 second lead after around 4 laps. He then started to slow down and drifted into the blue zone; driving real slow and crawling around. As the A-I closed the gap to within 5 to 10 seconds, he sped up and maintained the gap; I didn't touch the controls at all. He won the race by 10 seconds. Done this a few times now and he always maintains a gap. B-Spec is Level 20 and I very rarely have to guide anymore.

Yes, that's like that. I think as long as the driver has a higher level as the other AI drivers of the race you win. I suppose the other AI drivers have the level which is necessary for the race itself. So level 19 in the GT Allstars races for example. And you should kind of test it out before you leave him totally on his own. Do the race, don't touch the controller and observe what's happening. As soon as he can win on his own once, he will do it in 99% of the same race again.

My problem is that bob doesn't seem to learn, If he overtakes into the chicane after the tunnel at monaco he crashes however he then goes and does it again the next lap, I have to tell him to slow down so he doesn't attempt an overtake so he doesn't crash.

What you have to realize is when they get a good comfortable lead, the drift into the "blue" zone. When in that area, they're basically just coasting, not trying hard at all. If you want your driver to drive hard all the time, you have to keep him in the red. (blue is coast, red is aggressive driving). If you let him coast for too long, and his car isn't way faster than the pack, then the pack can catch up, especially on longer races where they can shave seconds off Bob's lead each lap. So, like most people above me have said, to set it and forget it, you need a driver with a higher level and preferably lots of experience to let him win his own races. I have been messing with B-spec a lot lately and am really enjoying it. Another thing to help your B-spec drivers level, is when you're not using him, go into the drivers menu and select your driver, then click share with friends. Then, whenever a friend does any bspec races, there is a chance your driver will be involved as an AI in your friends race, which I think is a really cool feature. A lot of people don't know about this feature so I think we should all pass it on.

ps- yay for my first post :)

Congrats on your first post. Ya I'm new to these forums but I love it cause I've learned a crap ton of info on how to tune and how to run races and stuff like that. This place rocks.

I didn't know you could run your guy as an AI against your friends. Sounds like fun but I don't have any friends who have PS3, they all have lame XBox. So I can't do that, but thanks for the info pal! 👍

Thats something i did not know.

Thanks

I think *think* that there's less coasting dropoff with an aggressive AI driver than with a cool one, you might try that
