B-Spec Pit question

Hi all,

OK I've had a good search around but I can't find any info on this...
Apologies if I've duplicated a question.

When I'm doing endurance races on B-Spec (1000 Miles! at the mo), every time Bob pits in automatically, the screen changes from Race Monitor to Live View, even if I don't change any options on the pit menu.

This means I have to keep an eye on it to change it back to Race Monitor, so I can put the speed on x3.

Is there a setting somewhere to stop this happening? Can I set the RM to default or something?

Cheers!

Hi all,

No, you'll need to manually set it to triple speed after each pit.

AMG.

Which isn't very helpful when you want to get a 24 hour race done in 8 hours without having to keep an eye on it all the time.

I had the same question
what car do you use in those races?
is the playstation pescarlo good?
I use that but can it win me the Nurburgring 24h endurance race?

Yes. Massively so. To a level of overkill.

Check the Race Reports forum for stories of how other people have done it.

I gotta say this. After driving the 1000 Miles at Nurburgring a few weeks ago, why would anyone want the B-spec the entire race? I'm so in love with the Ring....every lap (A spec or B-spec on normal speed) was a joy! I can't wait to return to Nurb. :dopey:

I dont have the time to sit and do 1 race for 4 hours
none the less the "ring" 24hour endurance i have yet to get the 8 hours to do in b spec

For the 1000 Miles! event you are limited to 1970 model production cars or earlier.

In GT4 that leaves you 51 cars to chose from. The following is a list of all of those cars, ranked by Stock Power:Weight ratio:
The "AI" column refers to which of the 51 cars can be used by the AI in these races, and the number refers to their ranking based on actual race times for these events (which is why some are ranked higher in the 51 car list because all though they may have a better P:W ratio, that doesn't always translate to performing better, especially on certain types of tracks and race conditions).

There is an additional link in that post to get even more specific detail about the performance of the various AI cars in these events as well, including even pit stop strategies and fuel mileage.

If all you are wanting to do is win the races in this event using B-spec, and not interested in close competitive racing, then select any of the top ten in that ranking, and be sure there is no '66 AC 427 S/C in the field of AI cars, and you'll easily win without ever having to lift a finger.

However, if you are interested in more of a challenge, then I suggest reading through the thread that includes the ranking of the 51 qualifying cars, as you'll find several excellent suggestions that not only will likely result in race wins, but at the same time offer some very competitive and challenging racing.

The 1000 Miles Event is one of the more popular (currently the 3rd most favorite among GTP members participating in the Championship Series Poll), and in my opinion, most entertaining series in GT4, and it would be a shame to miss out on all the fun by B-specing it.

I understand time constraints, and for a challenging close race, each race is going to last between 3-4 hours depending on which of the four races you are in. However, what I do is simply pause the race, and come back to it later in order to finish it.

Good post, DN 👍

I A-Specc'd this series last week using the Giulia and it was a blast :D.

I would've used the Duetto but a friend of mine over at the Numbers had already used that one and I wanted to see what was possible with the (stock terrible) Giulia Speciale.

Got 160 A-Spec per race and had an excellent time, particularly at the 'Ring.

Yer, i know i wish u cud keep it constantly 3X faster. What i did , whilst revising i just kept it on the screen so everytime he pitted i clicked 3X as fast.

i got revison done and Gt done - ahhh harmony.

Also i like to time how long bob takes to get round until he pits so i know when to come back to 3X him again. I think it was about 17mins for 1000 miles. That meant i could go away and do something else. :)

Start it at a time when 22 hours or so later you will be able to come back to it again. Do only minimal 3x to make sure your car is comfortably in the lead, and then just turn the monitor off and leave the game running. (Try to keep track of how much time you gained by using 3x, so you can catch it in time to watch the finish; most interesting is to look at the B-spec monitor to note the distance to each competitor and other statistics--you can only do that before the finish).

E.g. I might start it close to midnight, and plan to check in on it and finish it up at about 9 or 10 the next night.

Or are you not able to leave your PS2 running like that in a place where it will be safe from "tampering"?

i know sometimes when i do b-spec my dad comes in and turns it off at the plug, cause not in my bedroom - it's really annouying.

Also if my dad finds i have left it on - so when he's going to bed the next morning he usually b:censored: cks me :ouch: :grumpy:

I don't think we need to know what your dad does to you in the morning

When I do an endurance race, I like to start the race in a-spec, get a respectable lead, then pit in and "change drivers" over to b-spec. Every once in a while, I'll give the virtual driver a break and take over for a while. And I like to finish the race manually.

I'm never going to run any race in B-Spec, A-Spec all the way for me. :D Even if it does really annoy everyone in my household, I can't just sit and let the game basically finish itself. Plus the Ring is my favourite track, every bump and crest I can enjoy so much, 24 hours there would just leave me wanting 24 more! :dopey:

Yup. This is exactly how I'm gonna do the 24 hours at both Nurburgring and Le Mans. I don't mind "sharing" my driving time with Bob because that's what real-life driving teams do. I might let Bob handle part of the 4 hours at Tsukuba, too....I've driven so many laps at that track it makes me barf! :yuck:

On the other hand, I'm a bit selfish about all the other enduros. I wanna do them all myself. So there!

It'd be cool if you had a bunch of friends that are actually good at GT4, then alternate between everyone just like in real life.:D

Several of us here were talking about this a few months ago. To do this, you would need your friends to be about as good as you were; dedicated, taking it seriously, etc. This would prevent your human team from having a driver who just totally sucks!

It could wind up being awkward if one guy or gal started driving and blows the whole momentum built up by other drivers; after all, if you're gonna attempt 24 hours of driving with several humans, you're gonna want to WIN and not waste everyone else's time. 💡

I love falling asleep to the hum of the PS2 or PC near me. Something soothing about it. The GT4 race menu soundtrack works as a good lullaby at 1am too I've discovered. :embarrassed:

I also do this. Its fun to do an 8 hour shift at the ring right before letting bob have a go, then falling asleep with it on.
