B spec question: strength, mental strength

So I'm just getting into b spec. My driver is at lvl 8. I'm curious about the strength/mental strength meters I see during the races. My driver's mental strength never seems to deplete much, if at all. But strength is always depleted each race. I've never had the misfortune of it being depleted completely.

Anyway, my question is: what affects those meters? How do I keep strength from being depleted too much, and what happens if it's completely exhausted?

If all strength becomes depleted then your driver will perform badly and drive slower.

Your driver's strength will be better as you level him up.

I noticed that when bob turns into a corner, his physical meter gets visibly drained, not so much on the straights.

That is true but I could add that sometimes the B-spec driver seems to not behave as expected. I'll give an example - last night I was coaching at Tsukuba the NR-A Roadster cup and my driver looked doomed to 3rd with diminishing mental (1/2)/physical (1/4) strength with 2 laps to go. And "oh, miracle!" he seemed to wake up and drove very consistently for these last 2 laps and took the event by 2 seconds.
So that rule has some exceptions, I guess. :dunce:
As for the OP, just don't spam the buttons. His strength seems to deplete faster if you spam the buttons like crazy (maybe he is incapable of doing too much things (even the same) at once). :D

My bob loses about 10 seconds a lap in the 24h race with no strength, but he still laps 15 or more seconds a lap faster than 2nd place.
