Hi all, I have just joined the forums, I am so bored with flopza 5 I have dusted off my PS3 and re-installed GT6. May I just say, I think GT6's driving physics are still better than Forza and that is what has drawn me back in, not to mention the full on list of tracks with day/night transition, now I have managed to get my TV settings right I think GT6 looks pretty good.

Anyway, my only real issue is the cost of the cars!!

As I have just started the career mode again what is the best way to progress and earn plenty of credits I know there are posts about this so apologies if this has been done to death.

Even thinking of getting rid of my Xbox one and getting a PS4 in anticipation of GT7.

I know the GT series is far from perfect (have been playing since the PS1 days) but it is holding my interest far more than Forza :) losing hours just hot lapping with different times of day on various tracks, just such a breath of fresh air compared to Forzas pre-baked De ja vu being dazzled by OTT glare at the same corner on Spa every race!!

As you say do a search for say the fastest way or cheapest way to do career mode though I don't really understand the issue with car costs.
Excluding the few cars that cost 10-20 million the majority of cars pay for themselves in less than 5 races. I would assume people normally use them in more than 1 or 2 races so there is no real problem.
That said the game design is very poor in that races which allow racing tyres are the ones that generally pay better.

If your a grinder do the Red Bull races or keep an eye out for high pay out seasonal races.

Just do enough events so that you can move on to the next tier, and the next, and the next... If you wish to complete all the events you can always go back later. The Red Bull event is good for making money, but the seasonal events are also paying out pretty good. Right now there's one where you get 300 000 credits for one lap around Nordschleife (with 200% login bonus).

While I play both franchises, I must agree that GT is far superior when it comes to the actual racing aspect of the game. When I play Forza, I find myself in the paint shop creating custom liveries about 85% of the time. I usually only race to see how they look in real-time or for photo ops. Forza's AI just completely ruins the racing for me. In all honesty, I haven't even bothered with the Xbox One. For me, that's saying something because I like having all consoles. I'm just sick and tired of Microsoft's nickle & diming, their Gestapo-like online policies and their complete tunnel vision when it comes to game development & licensing (I'm sick of owning FPSboxes). Just curios... How many cars/track came with FM5 and how many have they sold/tried to sell you?

The seasonals are okay now...to get some cash. The deep forsest is easy...race car at 500PP ...$240K for the win...takes 7 mins. I use a bunch of different cars but the renault megane trophy is only $100K to buy so if u dont have a lot of cash, it wins easy.

That's why I am done with Forza series after I get FM5 for a few hours include installing data and DLC for start. I just go back to GT series for now.

@Zer0 is that you? lol.

In all seriousness though photonmonkey, welcome to GTPlanet. It's great that you're getting the hang of this website and you love Gran Turismo 6 but I just want to inform you that the forums are serious in nature. So I recommend that you don't use terms such as flopza or anything that sounds kinda childish because it could give unwanted exposure which is not good. I'm just saying this for your own good.

Anyway, my only real issue is the cost of the cars!!

And the cars in GT6 are still cheaper that they are in real life (which i don't like)

Why does no one like the feeling of ownership granted by actually saving for and buying a car? even with GT6's comparatively cheap cars (compared to real life), you can still comfortably make the transition from FIT to a C7 without having to buy a car between them. Thats a big performance jump. Having said that though, i think what most people see as the problem is not that the cars cost to much, its that once you do buy a new car, you can only use it for 5 or so races until the game wants you to buy a new one for a different championship, and then it gets to the point that it costs more to buy the car than the races pay out. so i think that PD should make the cars MORE expensive, MORE rewarding to finally buy after saving for a day or two, but then allow you to use that car until the AI cars slowly outclass you. Then you upgrade the engine. does anyone see where I'm getting at here?

And just as a side note, the fifth car i bought on my second play-through was a Huayra. 1.3 million credits were spent without second though, even though i knew the car was probably too much of a handful to drive with the AI. So i didn't even use it, but still that huge waste of credits was barely felt.

But anyway, excuse my rant, and welcome to GTP, the world of Gran Turismo!

thanks all for the responses and the welcome to the forum. I was a hardened Forza fan until FM5 even bought the console solely for Forza (yep not a good idea to buy a console for one game in the hope it will change your life lol) so the 'flopza' comment was kind of childish in nature, so take the point, certainly don't want to attract any negative attention. forza is still a very 'pretty' game and not trying to bash it.

Just annoyed with Turn10 and Microsoft so enough said on that.

'Anomaly' there were 14 tracks at release, one test track and the top gear test track so in my opinion only 12 actual race tracks and that includes the 2 Forza fantasy tracks. In fairness they did eventually release 3 more 'free' DLC tracks but for me the track count was still way to low, I bought the special edition and then with the monthly car packs that were paid for God knows how much I have spent. That with the 'speed restricted steering' even in simulation steering mode which ruined it for me. I have not looked back since re-installing GT6. Just handles so much more realistically IMHO. The physics in Forza 5 May be computing more data but that doesn't count for anything if it doesn't feel right.

Anyway, once again thanks for the welcome and hopefully I will have some positive inputs to add to the forums as I progress through the game :)

I must admit I havnt tried it with a wheel, I had a wheel for my 360 but couldn't really afford one for the XBox One. I am sure the experience is much improved with a wheel but for me the biggest killer was the low track count and the pre-baked time of day on every track, was just like playing a slimmed down FM4 but at 1080p. I loved it when first released but nothing there now to hold my interest, may dive back in at some point but for now loads to do in GT6.

Yeah I went with the TX wheel because the controller felt horrible and it was a completely different story. I was so used to the DS3 that I just couldn't drive properly, especially throttle/braking with the triggers just felt odd. Once I tried it with the TX I fell in love with the game. Track count doesn't seem that small to me considering how many layouts there are. I am yet to fully learn them all. Another thing I found that was very special was how the track would rubber in and seem to come alive, feeling grip increasing is phenomenal.

Well good luck with GT6 there are some great cars there and some really nice challenges too. My advice would be to try the Lotus T97 on Spa, hotlapping there is heaven! Also try to use a wheel, even the DFGT is awesome. I do not know if FFB is fixed yet though, last time I tried it it had gone pretty weak.

Wow... 14 tracks! That's laughable in this day & age. I remember reading the (at the time) upcoming car & track list, thinking this cannot be the complete list. Apparently it was. This is one of the reasons why I'm fed up with Microsoft consoles and their gaming vision.
