They might very well be soon!

The cryptic film reference immediately inspired online theories ranging from a 3D re-release of the trilogy to a theatrical reboot of the first film. Luckily, the mystery was soon solved by sneaker blog Nice Kicks, which revealed that Nike is planning a special Back to the Future themed unveiling to take place tomorrow evening.

Soon thereafter, Marshall followed up with another Tweet that read, "Going to need a lot of hover boards," with a link to the video below, showing off racks and racks of the shoe design.

Official confirmation and details about the release should hopefully be available following tomorrow night's reception and unveiling.

I would so buy a pair if they work just like the ones on the movie. I wouldn't wear them around town of course, but anyone that is a huge fan of the movies like myself should get a pair just because. :dopey:

(Not sure if this is the right place for this thread. If the Movie section is more fitting, please move...)

If they make them in 15 4E with some trailer tie-downs for straps, sign me up.

Here's a high resolution image capture I found online and patent diagrams!!!

I so want a pair of these now!

So they DO have the automatic fastener system! :dopey:

Hopefully they are not as expensive as I think they're going to be...

I wouldn't be surprised if they were at least as expensive as premium cordovan shoes. Talking 325-500 bucks here. Remember, it's Nike... fashion over function. Sneaker creeps would blow that kinda of cash on them for sure.

All of the funds go to the Micheal J. Fox Foundation. Also have to note that they are not meant to be used regularly everyday(found that in the questions box below the bidding for a shoe).

I wouldn't have used them anyway, and I'm glad the money goes to a good cause, but that's WAY more than I imagined they would cost.

Cool but now they are already at 8 grand.

Curious about the final prize (or the maximum)

Wow, that's a lot more than I imagined. I suppose they are in limited numbers though, and they're from a pretty popular film. Some people will obviously pay it. At least it's all going to a good cause though.

Thats pretty awesome.

Its going to be so funny watching this movie when even the future is in the past

Wow, I thought they would be mass producing them. LOL. Looks like my $500 was WAY off.

Yes by 10 times or more. Though they could be mass producing them since they said they are going to continue produce more in the future till they can have the auto lacing feature. One massive plus is if these shoes can be durable for everyday use. I hope the shoes can take some rain.

I want a pair sooo bad. but since they are not in mass production (which they should be, i bet Nike would not loose any money making them mass production charging 150-200 bucks a pop and using all the proceeds for charity and selling them for like 1-2 years. that would be awesome and i would get them AND wear them everywhere!

You guys.

This is old tech boys and girls. People have been making these for donkeys.

Check it. A lot cheaper and cooler than these new fangled extortion boots.

Strange.. I've never been interested in shoes but after reading through this thread, it has inspired me to buy a new shoes to replace or as a spare one to my trusty 3 years old sneakers which has got some green paint on it.

I would totally spend money on these if i could. not only do the proceeds go to charity, but all the money raised is supposed to be matched by someone. at least i'm pretty sure i read that somewhere, but don't quote me on it. and if you haven't found out already, they don't have the auto lace feature. Nike has the patent, but didn't do it on these shoes. they do however light up for about 5 hours without needing a recharge.

Here is full coverage of the event. There are 4 parts to it.
