Hey there every1 I'm hoping some one can help me here.I wanna back up my GT5 game data but I read something on this website I don't like.

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-back-up-and-import-ps3-game-saves/

:scared: :nervous: Note: If you want to restore the backup, go back to Settings -> System Settings -> Backup Utility and select “restore”. Once you’ve told your PlayStation where to look, your files will magically fall into place, but know that all the other files on the PlayStation 3 will be deleted! :scared: :scared:

I'm not to keen on my stuff being deleted I've got over 6 months in GT5 is there a safe way to backup the game data & reload it & not lose anything??

Thanks for everyone's help in advance......

If you want to save your game status, just copy the much smaller GT5 game save to a USB drive, not the game data itself. The only things the game data has you'd want to keep are replays, photos, and created tracks(why can't we import those things if we can export them?).

Look under Saved Data Utility for that.

Backing up the whole system is for changing hard drives/PS3s. Still a good idea to make one if you have the space, but a bit heavy handed and time consuming for just keeping your cars and progress.

This has reminded me I need to backup mine, one of my drifting friends in Team Insanity lost all his gt5 data and lost millions of credits worth of drift cars including all his Supra RZs

I back mine up every time I gold something hard or buy a new expensive car. Unfortunately the portable HD I used for backups failed, so now I have to save to usb stick and then put it on my computer. That one extra step keeps me from backing up as often as I used to. We have become so lazy, what would those Monks that hand wrote copies of the Bible think of us now?

I keep a couple USB sticks plugged into my PS3 - one for my main account and one for a second account. They're different colors/styles, so I haven't mixed them up (YET, at least!). I tend to back up my game save data whenever I do anything "major" in the game. And then I back them up to my computer and to a portable 1TB hard drive once a month or so. I'm pretty sure I won't lose TOO much data when it all goes wrong! :)

Yeah the save data is the way to go.

I have 3 USB sticks that I save to daily, that way when my PS3 dies (2 weeks ago lol) I lose nothing or very little, thankfully I had a second PS3 on hand and transferring the data was easy 👍

I want to save all the data listed above one 1 acct & the other acct don't matter since there is nothing there but a profile pic that can always be redone. The 1st profile has 6 months worth of stuff on it...So was that website right in what it said about making game saves, but losing my data that's my main concern above all.

Yes, backup the save data onto a USB, unless you have DLC you don't need to worry about the game data (even that can be reinstalled afterward), none of your progress is on the game data.

Ok just one more thing I guess. Will I lose the 2 cars I recently got from PD.The GT-R 500 Steatlh model (Black) one & the new 86 GT '12...I'm guessing it saves the bought cars & ticket cars both standard & Premium....

I know I used to do this all the time before I stopped playing for a while. Now that's I'm back all I can find is to save it online with PSPlus (which I don't have). Did something happen?

Never mind. I found it. There was a back up file I was trying to back up again...SMH
