Just a reminder to everyone to backup your save files.

Yesterday my trusty launch model PS3 died. She had a good life and passed away with YLOD. Of course the disc was stuck inside and I had to operate to free it. After running for years and at times was not shut off for over a month she remained in good working order till I started playing Skyrim. That game is so buggy it kept crashing and she couldn't handle it anymore.

Picked up a new 320 GB this morning and am loading software. Wow does GT5 take for ever to load. Luckily I had backed up to a USB Flash Drive and the game accepted it without a hitch. I have close to 2,000 cars in my collection and rebuilding the thumbnails of the cars is taking forever.

Sorry for the long story, just keep in mind to BACKUP you never know when its going to be your turn.

Show us your tears. I cry with you, my friend.

And finally a man who did his homework and backsaved his savegame.

No whining ("Waaaah.... I lost my savegame.... Gimme please some cars, tickets. Waahaaahaaaaa....") - thank you - thank you - thank you.

And thanks for warning them all: Use an USB stick!!!

Your story mimics mine almost exactly apart from I used the hair dryer method
To release my game and data.

I tried that method but had no luck and wasn't to concerned as my ps3 was very old and worn out. I was just so happy that I backed up and only lost a few hours.

What I really miss is the 4 USB ports on the old ps3. The new one only has 2 USB ports, so with the recharge cord in I can only plug in 1 Flash Drive. In the old PS3 I had 3 Flash Drive's hooked up lol. Maybe overkill but I wasn't taking chances.

WRECKU: You can buy usb port expanders pretty cheap that attach to the existing usb. I got one that attaches to the front with two extra ports and camera card readers. Looks like part of the PS3. Only 20 dollars.
