For all you fellow Australians, and fans of the Tickford Falcon from GT3, I'm watching the Bathurst telecast. It's literally about to start...

Makes that ANZACs then.

Dick gave it away a couple of years ago - his son Steven is running the no.17 car now.

DJR is still going strong - that Kiwi Radisich is in the other car.

Yea, I figured that much (: So how did the RX-7s do this year? Any in the top 10?

Well, the race they used to run in at Bathurst stopped running some years ago (like around 5). It was a 12 hour (I think) production race - they won it like three years in a row - the Japanese were fascinated with the place in the Group A days (hence the Skyline GT-R in Group A Touring Cars) of the Bathurst 1000.

The Bathurst 1000 is specifically for the V8 Supercar class (which from memory, is a modified class of Group A rules) for which only the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon are homologated - the Tickford Falcon in GT3 is the works Ford entry for the series.

The works Commodore won it this year.

We have another series in Australia called GTP Production car racing, which is a shadow event to the V8 super tourer cars. They run completely stock cars, apart from tires, and the RX-7 (not even the current version, its a few years old) regularly puts in an impressive performance usually running in the top 3 in its class. Watched it dual with a ford Mustang driven by John Bowe a few months ago. Great stuff to watch. Its like the Gran Turismo games being turned into real life. Heaps of different manufacturers running all in the same race.

Oh, by the way, I would be in heaven if they included Bathurst in GT4, or an Aussie add on. I doubt it would happen but to have some local HSV's, and Tickfords roaring around the mountain with Supras, Skylines and the likes. My idea of heaven.

Well, completely stock apart from the large exhausts (which greatly benefit the turbos), suspension changes and slick racing tyres...

It is a good series though - especially the midfield classes...

Being new to GTPlanet & during my surfing, I was pleased to find this Australian thread.
With the Great Race being played out only recently, I felt I had to give credit to the game developers of WTC's that realised what an excellent track this really is - giving the rest of the world a taste at least.
If I'm like any other Aussie, PS playing, motorsport fan (or World Wide fan for that matter), you would have at least tried the 'World Touring Car' (Toca 3) version of the track. It certainly filled a gaming void between GT2 and the GT3 releases down here in Oz. Has anybody been playing it around the world? I wasn't sure it was in the other releases.
Bathurst is a must for GT4 - I'd only hope they can reproduce it as well as Laguna Seca has been.
