I heard here on Gamespot that there's a new THQ game coming out later. Battlebots! :yuck:

For our non-American friends, or the cable television-impared, Battlebots is a stupid freckin' show [on a comedy network!] that has normal people who make fighting "robots" that are basically just wedges with wheels nder them. A video game on PS2? It'll spoil the good name of PlayStation2! As if THQ couldn't get any crappier, well, here ya go!

How dare you disgrace the show battlebots like that! That show is cool, what is there not to like about 2 machines going gung-ho on each other and one ending up being torn apart?

Back to the game, your right, it will prolly suck :)

THQ = To Hell with Quality :D

I figured that out about ten years ago. If you've ever played any of THQ's arcade adaptations for the SNES or Genesis, you know what I mean. :nervous:

They're not robots, however, just remote control vehicles. A battle between robots would be MUCH cooler. IR rotating head for detection, programmed strategy, hazard evasion subroutines, etc.

There used to be a PC game, before Windows I think, in which each player would program his own robot. He'd have to decide on a search rate, a tradoff between scan speed and resolution; an attack style from aggressive through cautious (there's more thatn one opponent so the bot would have to watch it's back or take a chance on being suprised); which opponent to concentrate on, like the closest, or the one moving towards you. This would all be compiled into a program and you could watch them on the screen and see who was left standing. Anyone remember this?

I was dissapointed when I realized that Battlebots was just two guys driving their remote control vehicles against each other. My kids do that with their RC Monster Trucks :-)

Never said they were robots, just machines:)

Do your kids RC cars have saws and big spikes?

I agree that THQ kind of stinks, they really managed to ruin some games that could have, and should have been great. (Evil Dead: Hail to the King  ) I won't even think about buying a THQ game unless it is a volition developed game, or has the word "Bass" in the title. :P

It wasn't your post, just the first time I heard about the show I thought it meant "Battling Robots".

For some reason they haven't thought of saws and spikes yet. :-)

I don't know if it's THQ, but someone's making a Britney Spears game, with dancing and singing or something, I saw it at www.ebgames.com on the upcoming releases for ps2. First Mary Kate @ Ashley, now Britney; what next, Dolly Parton plays with Barney?

hey, don't dis mary kate and ashley. they're fit as fook. :P

and we do have the show over here, although it's called "robot wars", and it's far better than battlebots (which we also get over here). the robots actually have ingenuity tattooed al over them, you get some original ideas which kick ass.

there was one robot about a year ago, called chaos. it was this tiny thing, no bigger than an average midi tower. but this little thing flipped the largest orbot in the place. now that is very clever, i'd like to see any stock robot do that.

but the games were crap. i was disappointed in the robot wars game, i rented it out, and i laughed at how nothing resembled the actual program. shoddy.
