Beat Champ Car driver AJ Allmendinger in Laguna

Using arcade time trial Ford GT with default tire, which I think was medium sport

My best time was a 1'31.104 but I'm no Laguna master, so I'm guessing AJ's times should be easy to beat for you guys.

Try it out!

Hey, keep in mind that everyone in that GT4 test used the Logitech GT4 wheel + pedals!

Does that make their lap times better or worse?
It took me three laps to beat AJ's time with my DS2.

i just dont like wheels and pedals. they dont feel right to me. the wheels always turn the same lock to lock and its never right and the pedals are never linear. i use the ds2 to great effect.

ok i was just reminded to do this race. my best time in the ford gt at laguna seca with medium sports tires with NO asm or tcs is 1:29.851 and i fully expect this time to improve.

I'm definetly not a master of Laguna, in fact I actively dislike as the corkscrew is lethal in a big American car like this  but oh well I'll pull a few laps and see what happens ;)

i had no stability with the midium tires and the brakes suck. it took me a lot of warm up laps to get the car to work for me.

I put out a 1.31.028 my very first lap. I was wayyyyy out of practice in GT4(haven't played in about 3 months), so everything felt weird. and that was freakin horrible, there were some off's on that lap and I still got a 1.31. I don't see how those IGN editors can be so slow as to put out a 1.37 lap. jezze. anyway, the car oversteers on braking, pushes mid-corner to exit when you are on the throttle. on top of that, the ride height is to high, the springs are too soft, the dampers don't work when you need them to, and the engine behind you doesn't help with the handleing problems. oh yea, and the brakes are complete ****, diareah even. but once I was able to get an idea of how the car will handle in certain situation(3-4 laps), I did some laps focusing on each corner. then on lap 14 I put out a 1.28.668. I still had about 3 tenths left, but I didn't want to deal with that car anymore. right after this, I got into the Mercedes 190E DTM car and kept braking waaaayyyy to early for the car since I was still used to the Ford GT. I put out a 1.22.648 lap. that is how a car should handle. it handles like my kart, amazing. turns when you need it to, tons of grip, stops on a dime and goes like stink. I know it's cliche, but it's true. the 190E DTM car is one of my favorites. it's nice.

rock.

cause the golf is made by Volkswagen...that shows why you love Hondas more then Fords? mmmhmmm...... you also have to remember this is a game and the GT doesn't handle anything like that in real life. Polyphony screwed up coding the GT's handeling characteristics. the brakes aren't that bad or every publication would be screaming fraud when the GT made it's debut. the game has made a very poor representation of the Ford GT. funny how the japanese cars in a japanese game handle better then the American cars huh? still, I was a couple seconds quicker then AJ, hehe, neat.

rock.

that has always been funny how there are so many more japanese cars and they are so much faster. it doesnt bother me though. i'd rather have 34237473498 versions of the skyline in a game the one of the camaro.

personally, I think the GT handles better then the GT-R in the game. besides, I don't discriminate by country of origin. I wish they would just have non-biased, real life representations of each car. so what if the GT is faster then the Evo 8 in real life, it's supposed to be. god , PD needs to stop f-ing up the cars handleing just cause they are kissing japanese manufacturer ass.

rock.

well i think it has a point though as americans are know for being retards when we make "sports cars." in my book a car with a huge engine and nothing else is for pulling trailers not racing.

i just realized i made a rather large mistake. i was driving the ford gt concept. i didnt have the ford gt in arcade mode but i thought they were the same but i was wrong. the concept has 50 less hp and 1250 less rpm when peak power hits. i probably could have been faster if i was driving the right one. duh me! :grumpy:
