So I tuned mine up to 450pp, and took it to the 500pp Apricot Hill Intermediate Seasonal event... first try, first win.
Cheers
Could we be on to something here? It's slightly better than expected, but does it end there? Or could it just end up being the best beater if there were ever to be one?I'm actually surprised with it as well. I hate FF vehicles with a passion, both in real life and my virtual life... but I'll be damned, it's shockingly fun. My prejudice towards this thing had my expections kind of like a limbo dance competition... "How low can you go?!?", but it's already dug itself out of the grave I've always put it in. We'll see on race days just how well it does in the long run.
Cheers
Could not have hit the nail any harder on the head with your baseball player visual. Spot on friend 👍Well, so far, the response to the awkward kid has been rather surprising, on the good side of things at that. Perhaps this underwhelming-looking baseball player can hit an unexpected homerun, but I have to drive it myself to be sure... Can it be fun? Can it make up for its looks? The PT is treading across a dangerous minefield...
I may miss tomorrow night so I might miss the meaning behind "PoTus."If it pulls off the mother of all comebacks, then I'll happily admit I was wrong.
The Fiat set the bar low, the Prelude dug a small trench and set the bar there, So already it's making a good impression.
Of course I've yet to drive it and that'll be the PT Criuser's acid test, can the PT avoid being christened " The PoTus" ( it's not what you think it means and I'll explain what it stands for on race night. ) and become an underdog Sleeper?
Watch this thread.

It's officially official.
You all have lost your damn minds.
Will you be buying my Taylor Swift concert ticket @McClarenDesign?

@McClarenDesign is under investigation for accusations of insanity.
I present the following as evidence for the jury:
I tried checking for race ticket prices on the F1 site but couldn't find anything.Might not have to. In 2012 they were giving away Nelly tickets at Fan Fest, plus there was a notable concert (though I've since forgotten) after the race for those that stuck around.

Hey BBR, don't forget that it's prettier than Susan Boyle too 👍
Shoot, man. Who knew? Does this mean we can scratch this car off the extremely uncool list? Nah.Cruiser after a Starlet
Well 2016 is turning in the year of FFS... yes, you heard me, FFS. Front Forward Standard. This week is #9 of 2016 here at COTW headquarters, and in 9 weeks we've already done 6 FF standard cars. No wonder all my music heroes have been dropping like flies!
So first off in this 2 for, is the 1997 (I'm not a Porn) Starlet Glanza V. The ticker tape description touts that it "was known for its extreme power and performance". Enough said about that...
On the plus side, it wasn't the worst FF car I've driven, but no where close to the best either. It's just another run of the mill, boring FF car... filler for the list of over 1000 examples of auto history. Nothing really stood out about it. Which is both good and bad in certain ways. That's why it's getting a Neutral status from me.
Which leads us to our second victim... the PT Cruiser.
Gotta say, when it was announced, I needed a shoulder to cry on. Thankfully she understood when I said what was going on. But as a faithful COTW guy, I went to the dealership and bought one anyways. In GT6, I've "earned" over a Billion credits, and it pained me to spend the 16 thousand to get one... but it did get me a nice shade of green metallic paint.
Expecting less than nothing, I took it over to the TT in Spain. This is when things turned around... expecting less than nothing means it can't sink any lower. But in the very first turn, I knew something was up. No... it wasn't the power. At just 156 hamsters after the oil change, I wasn't looking for a neck brace. It had what the Glanza didn't. The ability to turn when and where I wanted it to. I was in shock. As an added bonus, it kept doing it!!! Lap after lap.
Whoa boy... hang on to your sanity. It's a TT. Nobody else was around, you had the whole track to yourself. Wait til Tuesday. Tuesday night comes around with the usual heavy hitters. We do our practice sprints. Then of course, comes time to go to @McClarenDesign's home, Laguna Seca. Thankfully I'm on pole with a good grid. Off to the races. First person to catch me was @Lewis_Hamilton_ and of course, he passes me. Even so, I kept my wits about me and chased after him.
Long story short, Ted Thomas comes by and assassinates Lewis, and quickly disappears before people could point out where the shot came from. Having fun over the 4 lapper, I was still in second place and watched the Houdini act before my eyes. Now all of a sudden, I had a comfy lead. On Laguna Seca. Me. On Laguna Seca.
Almost as shocking as a win there was the fun I had in an FF vehicle. I'm stunned and I'm calling it early, at the very least, it's a contender for the Susan Boyle award at the end of the year. Which by the way, also means that it's a Sleeper.
Cheers
Could it be the Jaguar racing green? That's talking "Personal Transport" cruising to a whole new level. Official song for this weeks CotW. Oh, and the lady driving the cruiser in Brads post announcing this weeks car is totally listening to this.So apparently there's a trick to improving your cars top speed ( and I mean ANY car) exponentially going around in GT6, guess which car I picked as my test subject?

Yep, a Jaguar Racing Green, 290mph PT Criuser.
Of course it's got a few drawbacks, it doesn't turn at all at top speed, the sound it some times makes will drive you nuts and the car is permanently altered ( even if you reset the console ).
But it's so much fun as well.
Edit: It's not as permanent as expected, it can be undone by rebuilding the engine, so in fact it's even better because of that. 👍
The cars not having any side effects left over, so it's easy to do and easy to undo.
So what next? Kei car? F1? Tank Car?
Shoot, man. Who knew? Does this mean we can scratch this car off the extremely uncool list? Nah.

Madness! Sounds like a blast. I got a good chuckle visualizing what it would be like to correct a slide at those speeds.I highly doubt it, considering I just ran 450+mph in the Dodge Ram Pickup in its factory Graphite Metallic paint job.

The car was crabbing sideways and this photo was taken when I was starting to correct it at 455mph.
Aside from a short ratio gearbox, RH tyres and an oil change, the Ram was stock.
This speed glitch is a very temperamental thing too, For example the Tank car and the RedBullX2010 would spin out when trying to put the power down, sometimes it would cut out and won't respond to throttle inputs, they would also try and go backwards sometimes and it's a nightmare to sort them out.
FF and 4WD are more controllable, but that's not saying much.
The Ram at the start of the Like the Wind Event would cut out and I had to use the handbrake to lock the rear tyres and give it some throttle to get the power back.
The brakes are useless at speed and most of your steering is gone so SRF is vital.
To get the Ram around the banked turns, I had to use the handbrake to cut the power and coast into the turn at 290mph and wall ride it around, but too much handbrake or engaging it when not perfectly straight will cause a huge spin out.
It's completely different to drive, might do it every now and then for the hell of it as it can be quite fun.
Well I did save the replay so I'll see if I can't sort something out, it won't be great quality, but it's something.Madness! Sounds like a blast. I got a good chuckle visualizing what it would be like to correct a slide at those speeds.

I am posting a video up later today of this glitch and it's odd behaviour. I would have done it a couple of days ago but haven't had the time, and I'll say something more about the PT Cruiser too other than it handles much better than you would expect.
I figured that seeing as how that speed glitch can make any run of the mill production car embarrass some of the more established speed demons, I should pick something that was originally designed for speed and speed alone.
The kicker? It was built before WW2.
It's unclear if it ever beat the speed record held by Mercedes back then on its tragic final run, but if it did, it would've been traveling at over 270mph on the Autobah n which doubled as the legendary AVUS race track back then.
This car will not play nice, it WILL bite and it'll do it without a second thought for the poor sod driving it.
