Beats only sound good to people who've never used proper monitoring headphones. No one uses them in a professional environment, it's all marketing. You can get a pair of headphones twice as good for half the price.

My little brother just spent £225 on some studio's. Considering you can get BOSE headphones for £25 more then I don't get why anyone would by them, if you want the look then you can get some fakes for £5 down the local market.

Only buy them (and Bose ones too) if you can find them with a good discount. They're not worth RRP.

They are made by Monster... Everything Monster make not only sucks but are overpriced. Price/quality/durability you can't beat Shure.

A pair of Bang & Olufsen headphones, is overpriced too, but for a reason. They should be in the top, but I haven't tried them myself, so I can't really tell.

For $150, you can get Ultrasone HFI-580's which are as good/if not better than the top-of-the-line Beats for three times the price.

Yeah I have Beats. I have the $500 Detox ones too. I like them. I'm also proud that I'm at a point in my life where I can waste money.

Owning Monster products is really just to show off that you have money... everyone knows they're an overpriced brand, and the big price tag is simply because of the name.

I personally dislike Beats-branded products because I see people wearing them more a fashion accessory.... and the Solo makes it worse since it's the most affordable non-IEM product they have. Plus it doesn't even look that pretty either imo.

Who is Dre? I knew a guy called Dré, has he gotten some fame or something? Oh wait, they're headphones. Whatever they are it seems that they aren't very good, I'll stick with my Sennheisers, thanks.

You're very right. Don't wear them in public much as they're giant and look ridiculous. But to be honest, everyone looks like an idiot with big over-the-ears on, regardless of the brand.

Yeah, I agree. Even though I wear proper headphones myself, I have Sennheiser HD202's, I look like a fool but I don't care because they just sound so good!

I use Sennheiser's and they are better than the majority of Beats that I have tried. I would buy another pair if they broke in an instant.

Pioneer has some good ones that can be had for less than $150.

Another option would be to go vintage. I have a pair of older Pioneers from the '70s, and they're not very bassy, but the midrange is excellent and they sound very good overall. There are some good options to be had out there if you want to look around.

Just promise me you'll stay away from those Beats monstrosities. I tried a pair in the store once, just for giggles. Never again!

This thread must've jinxed my Sennheiser's! They broke a couple of days ago, fortunately I have a back-up.
