In my earlier thread I mentioned an one-off Mustang created by Guigiaro while he worked at Bertone. Again no one actually suggested this car yet. So here we go:

In 1964, at the height of Mustang launch fever, a man named L. Scott Bailey had a light bulb moment: get Nuccio Bertone to dress up a "naked" Mustang chassis with an irrepressible Italian chic.

The result was shown off at 1965 New York Auto Show, and was a big hit, winning "Best of the Show" award.

I would like to show you guys and gals of GTplanet newer pics but the thing is, the car got bought by a well-to-do collector promptly after the show, and was never been seen again. As in, no one can even confirm that the car is still intact.

All I know is, as of Jan, 2010, "current owner" is utterly uninterested in letting the world have a peek at this marvel. What a pity.

A beautiful car that I'd love to see in the Gran Turismo series. A shame that Bertone and Ford, unless they get their skates on over the next three months, haven't decided to produce a 50th anniversary interpretation of it based on the current Mustang.
