From what I've seen I'd say UG2 but I've never played it and I found MW and Carbon to be boring...

Which do you guys think is the best?

UG was good, UG2 was absolutely fantastic... then Most Wanted and Carbon basically copied the same formula with variations, but didn't pay as much attention to level design as UG2, which was the best of the "free-roam" PS2 titles.

Never played undercover, though... after the disappointment of the "more of the same" from MW and Carbon, and the utterly ridiculous "Prostreet" (If I want to drive on the track, I'll do it in GT, thanks...), I couldn't be bothered.

UG2 will hit the spot... but if you're coming to it just now, the graphics are somewhat dated, and Carbon has better customization... but the whole city of UG2 is a free-roam paradise, with lots of instant battles available.

I will be picking up Shift.

Underground 2 was the best of the ones you listed. But NFS hot pursuit 2 was definitely the best PS2 NFS game.

Underground 2 by far. The attention to detail, freedom of customization (I make every car drive like a diesel just because I can) and variety the game had is second to none.

Most Wanted was very good if you had the PC/360 versions, but the PS2 version was meh.

I actually like the PS2 version of Pro Street, but it is absolute garbage without a wheel to play it with; with the most idiotic control scheme possible.

Most Wanted, intense pursuits, return of supercars, etc.

I didn't care for the undergrounds as you had to put on some ugly ugly body kits just to advance through career mode (which took ages to complete). Underground 2 took forever to load, and when it finally did I got bored of free roam rather quickly.

I've played all of the listed games, and only Underground 2 sticks out as a good game. The level of customization is great, the free-roam is great, and the graphics are nice.

Although HP2 is still the best :sly:

I don't really play the NFS series anymore, but I loved the series back on the PS2. Underground 2 was my favourite, I felt it had the best gameplay out of all the PS2 titles, and the customisation was fantastic.

Carbon was also a cool game, but no where near as good as Underground 2.

I agree with Nick. I played Underground 2 the most by far. I really enjoyed it.:) Yes I was only about 11 at the time. But yeah, I found it fun.:)

I'd have to agree with the people who say Underground 2 was the best NFS for the PS2 (though, I played it on Xbox and PC).

But IMO, it's still beaten by NFS3: Hot Pursuit and NFS: High Stakes. Something about those two games, especially the tracks, that never gets old for me. :)
