I know this is a personal thing but I'd like to get a feel for what people are doing to their cars.

Of the cars you've driven, which one would you consider to be the worst handling car and what did you do to try and fix it?

Which one would you consider to be the best handling car and what did you do to tune it (if any)?

Here are mine:

Worst: Cadillac CIEN Concept '02
Didn't bother trying to fix it. Perhaps someday when I'm bored...

Best: Amuse S2000 GT1 '04
A real treat to drive this car.
- High RPM Turbo
- Customizable Transmission
- Fully Customizable Suspension

Worst:Ferrari f-40

No matter what I do. It feels like it's lifted halfway off the track. It needs downforce BADLY. Shame it doesn't get imaginary adjustable downforce like the nissan R390.

Worst: Ferrari 512BB
Tons of body roll and it will lock up the rear tires and spin out if you try any amount of trail braking. It can be cured with a decent tune but it makes me wonder if that's how the car drives IRL.

Yes, it will swap ends if you trail brake with it in RL. It'll also swap ends if you get on the throttle too early coming out of turns. :(

Well in that case, Kudos to GT5 for tuning it properly...but it still belongs here.

LoL! I believe everyone has cursed at that car at least once.

Agreed, at least the Samba Bus race was amusing. In my opinion, all AWD cars are difficult, the amount of understeer they get is stupid. Best right now would be the Toyota MR2 G Limited '86. It's kinda like the Lotus Elise 96, but from Japan.

Lol, I've been having so much fun with the '86 MR2. Its very easy to tune and is super fun to drive. I'll post my settings in this forum once I have everything ironed out.

Interesting how for some reason the F 40 sticks to the ground when I use it. On the Nurburgring of all tracks.

Cool man, I would love to try out your tune. Once I get a disk (my disk has a crack in it :nervous:) I'll post my tune and try your for comparison.

Sweet, I'll start a thread in the tuning section with "86 MR2" in the title soon. Got to try the setup on a few more tracks.

Yea I about destroyed my controller after my 6th attempt with that Top Gear Lotus Elise its the worst car ever! :dunce:
I think everyone did. There are lots of tunes available on this site for the Elise that bring it back to redeeming quality. I think the main issue is brake balance. The trail braking most people use in turn 1 at TGT causes the rear end to lock up. Once you get over that, the car isn't too bad to handle.

Another car that is tough to handle is the RUF Yellowbird...however its behavior is pretty realistic to how it behaves in real life so its just a matter of learning to drive it...which I imagine is the same case for the Elise.

RUF Yellowbird is hands down the worst handling car I can imagine. It wants to crash before you even start moving.

For me the F40 is the best. Definitely not the fastest but such incredible character!

Yes, I agree on the F40. PD definitely got the car right in the game. It's not as raw as the real thing but it's close enough. :)

--Why it's happening.

All the ferraris, Lamborghini's and any other high power super car are very poor with handling because of there massive MR engines, which create a very un balanced weight distribution. Also there is allot of power going to the rear wheels which cause the car to over steer.

My suggestion

If u haven't already tuned your car. Go and buy all the weight reduction upgrades and chase reinforcements. That will improve overall speed and handling. Then buy the full customizable suspension, and Limited slip diff. Also go to the maintenance area and buy an arrow kit.(if it allows you to)

--Suspension
tune the suspension buy increasing toe angle so it has a "toe-in" angle. Set a higher angle on the rear wheels. Do the exact same thing for the chamber angle. Also lower the suspension but keep the car level.increase the spring rate and the damper rate.

Limited slip diff.
Increase the initial torque just slightly, nothing more than 10%.do nothing more acceleration sensitivity but nothing more the 5%.

The suspension mods should help your wheels dig into the ground better and stay in contact. But they will slightly reduce acceleration but it will be an insignificant amount. The Limited slip tuning prevents unexpected spin outs, fish-tailing and loss of traction. But it dose cause the car to understeer a bit. But in overall this should help compensate for the lack of down force. But remember it's still a Ferrari in the end so no matter how good the tuning your still going to wrestling it in to the corners and bends.

I agree, the Elise is embarrassingly awful in the Top Gear Event. If I worked for Lotus, I would not be happy with the portrayal of how the car drives. However, with the Vengeance tune, the Elise can be a lot of fun and quite responsive.
