Im new to drifting and i liked what i saw in Initial D and well i was wondering what would be the best car to start drifting with and how would you set it up

I would not recomend the Trueno, it is fantastic after you get good, but not to start. The (FD)RX7, RX8, MR2, S2000, are much easier to drift with.

There really are no magic settings, you really need to find your own, but start off by setting ASM and TCS to zero. The cars should have in between 250 and 400hp... Slap on Sim tires and you are set.

You don't "need" sim tires but they help, the stickier the tires the more hp is needed.

wow TruenoAE86, yu noe yur stuff ;)

dustin-19, the FC is a good starter, but watch out when yu slap on some sim tires because if you use the controller, it might be challenging to control the car. it took me a while to adjust my style, but it's easy to oversteer, and that's what you need to drift.

so if you wanna start wit the FC, it's cool. the trueno is the same

btw, just leave the FC stock, it's drift-ready ^^

I wouldn't recomend it, these cars are... well... twitchy... small mistakes will send you spining out, This doesn't mean you can't try though... The Trueno, FC, S13, S14 were my first drift cars but I soon realised that other cars were easier to control and were more forgiving.

When I got better at drifting I started to like my first cars better.

yu ken leave it stock b/c it's easy to oversteer the car. just slap on some simulation tires and you're ready!

Hey im treuno ss and the best car for drifting is the treuno, everybody has said it in there replies and i am saying it too.
I drive the ss treuno with 1800 or so horse power and the acs is set to 7 and gear ratio is the highest like 41 or something. Im a new comer and i like this game so much it is so fun, it is cool to have other people that share the same interest:)

Would the 400R be a good drifter to start out with? I have it stock right now. What's the best tire combo? Something like Softs on front and harder/Sims on back?

haha, at first I thought u were asking for a real life response. As a FC3s racer in real life the FC and FD are really hard to get a cool drift off because of its tendency to grip and snap right back into traction. The easiest car to drift in real life is a S14/S13/RPS13 because of their stock set up, but they don't come with LSD like the FC3S does sooo. Also the FC has a toe self adjustment in the back which makes the wheels grip very well/killing drift. Anti toe bushings can make up for that though.

The easiest car to drift in GT3 are: Shigeno Trueno, and a almost stock s14. Mines Lancer. Putting a lot of hp will make the car unpredictable, so just watch that. Its really easy, only takes a day or two to get it down if you understand car physics somewhat I guess.

I use really wierd drift settings.

This is how I have most of my FR cars setup

Car tuned to the max
Tires = front Soft, rear Medium Slick

Spring rate = 10 - 14
Ride height = almost all the way down
Camber = front 3.5, rear 1
Stabilizers = front 4, rear 4

Brake balance = front 8, rear 16

LSD initial = 30
LSD accel = 45
Gear ratio = 26 - 33 depending on HP

ASM = 0
TCS = 1 (otherwise the wheels spin, and I don't move)

I started out with an S13 and I had no problems ;) I'm not saying I'm the best drifter, but I think I'm fairly decent for a beginner. ;)

No, not an S14. I would not sudgest an S14, it requires much more finess to make the drifts in that car look up to par with the cars looks.

i started off with a FC, but soon found out that it wouldnt work....after about 10 spin outs in one run, but i found settings for the Civic Type R, even though its FF, it drifts like hell, its a great starting car cuz its forgiving and u can control the drift unlike FR cars where u need real delicate touches, if u want settings, eitehr go to the settings post or jsut use these:

Spring Rate-10/12
Height-89/89
Bound & Rebound- 7/7
Cam-2.0/1.0
Toe-0/2
Stab-4/3
Break-19/4
LSD Initial & Accel-60
LSD Decel-15
ASM-0
TCS-2
Tires-Supersoft/Sim

eh tried exaggerating a'lil, but whatever, also, im tryin to drift with a reg Trueno and i was wonderin what r sum good settings 4 it cuz the ones i have now r jsut makin it go slower and spin out easier

I don't have settings for my trueno, I simply give it a racing chip, simulation tires, and it wouldn't hurt to buy racing suspension, simply so you can lower it's center of gravity. Other than that you should be able to drift it relativley easy. I still highly sudgest learning with perhaps a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, or an Audi. Once you've gotten the hang of All wheel drive drifting, it is very easy to transfer what you've learned to both FR and MR drivetrains. Not to mention All wheel drive drifting is by far the easiest to both initiate and finish succesfully.

hmmm ic, i tried it with sum1s settings on a Subaru WRX STi, didnt work very well, but ill give it another shot, ive found FF driftiing is EASY, but ill try with the trueno again
