Hey guys im new to the forums, I tried searching for this but couldnt find it.

My question is which car (if any) in GT4 has the best gas mileage? Reason I ask is because im trying to do the Super Speedway endurance race in the Pescarolo 04 race car and Im having to stop for gas twice as much as the Nissan R392 race car or w//e it is.

Thanks :)

787B is likely the most fuel-efficient vehicle you can run competitively there. Loses a little on straights but more than makes it up around corners.

I 2nd the previous opinions about 787B. It won the '91 Le Mans race due to lower fuel consumption and its reliability. But I don't know if these facts have been transferred correctly to GT4.

I guess that should be the most efficent but it would get creamed in this race :P

I think its the R92 in this race, not sure. Either way it only pits like twice and Im having to 3 or 4 times :/

If its the R92CP something is wrong, that thing has one of the worst tyre consumption in the game.

Depends on what race your running in, and how fast you need to go. If anyone watches Topgear like i do, you'll know that a BMW m3 is more fuel efficient than a Prius, when the Prius is at speed and the BMW just has to keep up. Its all in your right thumb stick (or whatever button/pedal you use to accelerate :))

Do some tests with the Chaparral 2J. I seem to recall that being fast enough to at least match the lap times of the LMPs on most tracks, but it generally got better tire wear and better gas mileage than all of them.

The Peugeot 905 has great endurance - as an AI in this event it's guaranteed to pit just once. However the Pescarolo's are largely just as good with their great tire wear, and they're a lot nippier than the 905 and its "take your time" gearbox.

PF
Toyota Prius?

But think about it... you never have to pit for gas. :D

Stupid oversight in GT4... the Prius never uses any gasoline. Ever. At least, in the times I've driven it, the fuel gauge never ever went down.

When I was racing that race the Peugeot 905 finished second and was my main opponent. Don't underestimate it, it beat the Pescarolo Judd.

Hold the line!!!

According to Smallhorses' AI Pit Strategy Guide, the BMW V12 LMR can actually go further in the race than either Pesky. The Pescarolos only go until till Lap 46 ('03) and 48 ('04). However the BMW will still stop twice unlike the Peugeot which can stop from Lap 50-59!!! :scared:

Another one, supporting the others views: the Mazda can go till Lap 48, matching the Pescarolo '04 but once again, it's a two stopper!

The Mazda 787b, when I was completing my max points run, I chose to use the 787b for this event. Only had to pit once for fuel on lap 50 with 1 unit left.

You really do need to draft as much as possible to prolong your fuel life, but it is possible.

As AMG. has pointed out in this post

You have to drain the battery first.

Yeah... but just a few good coastdowns will charge it up again. :D
I'm trying to remember how I achieved it, but I think I drove in reverse completely. And don't use the brakes.

I... I... I wish I had my PS2 with me now... that sounds like fun. :dopey:

It has been years, but I remember the goal was to drain the battery to see what it did and it never let us get it below half drained on the battery. I can't remember if we managed to drain the gas only to have the usual coasting when out of gas recharge it or not.

One thing to note is that the Prius gas glitch is related to the transmission. Equip a tranny other than the stock one and it becomes identical to any other car.

...true, it becomes a rather boring front-drive if any other tranny is equipped. It also seems to lose the electric side of its drivetrain.

What's weird is... it's technically impossible to convert a Prius to a regular tranny. I mean, you can, but given the peculiarities of the Atkinson engine in the Prius, it would perform like a dog unless it received electric boost at low rpms.

I'm currently racing at Le Mans 24 Hours (chicane version).

Started the race with my beautiful Black Mazda 787B, no oil change, no chassis refresh, all stock.

I've won Le Mans many time, but this time, i tried something different. I practically drafted, and stayed in the slip stream of the opponents throughout the first 1 hour of the race. The results...i managed to push the Mazda up to 12 laps without refuelling! I'm 2 hours 30 mins into the race now, and already lapped up till the 5th place Nissan R89C, but still cruising in the slipstream, with more than 2 mins lead in the bag.

I wasnt to say I was able to push the Audi R8 11 or 12 laps before pitting on fumes. I'll have to look into it at some point.
