Hey guys!

My laptop has 1.5GB of RAM, a 2GHZ Pentium M and an NVIDIA GeForce 6200 Go.

I want to play Need For Speed on it, but my low-spec'd computer won't run any of the newer ones, Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted, etc. I'm looking into the original Most Wanted, as I am looking for a "free-roam" type NFS.

Any opinions or ideas are welcomed!

Thanks!

Try the pre- 2007 NFS games like the ones that were on the PS2. I highly recommend Hot Pursuit 2 because it is just an absolutely fun game but i've never played the PC version.

The PC version of Hot Pursuit 2 wasn't as good as the PS2 version, as they were completed by different developers. Still a decent game, though.

Apart from HP2010 and MW2012, the only freeroam NFS games spanned from Underground 2 to Undercover, so go for Most Wanted if that one floats your boat, as most people consider it to be the best of that era. Otherwise, Porsche Unleashed has nice physics and point-to-point roads you can cruise "freely," and High Stakes is cool because it offers a gajillion downloadable mod cars of all kinds. Both of those ought to run smooth as silk on your rig, as long as you can get Windows to cooperate.

Ok, thanks for the quick replies guys! I'm gonna borrow my friend's NFS Most Wanted 1 disc and try it out. I'll let you guys know how it goes! Thanks again!

As well as Most Wanted, there's always good-old Underground 2 - I can run it (on very low settings) on my old netbook and it's got a very lovely + varied city and free-roam mode, so there shouldn't be any reason why you wouldn't be able to run it.
Of course, MW has a superior storyline and better gameplay, but UG2 is a lot more extensive in terms of customization and will probably be less hard on your system.

If you think your system can handle it, there's always Carbon as well. But let's be honest here, would you want to?

The 6200 Go, will very likely not be able to run NFS World and same for Underground 2. It should run Underground without too much trouble, though 👍.

Ok, thanks again guys! Most Wanted runs lag-free on low settings, but I'll look into your suggestions. Thanks guys!

Underground 2 is very easy to run, actually - OP is running Most Wanted smoothly so he should be able to run UG2 on full settings.

According to Game-debate, the card shouldn't, - however it also said I only could run ETS 2 at medium, and I can run it at high - so, it's definitely worth a try 👍.

Well, if Most Wanted can run lag-free, you've got possibly the best NFS ever. Other than that, if you're more the tuner-guy that prefers AE86's and Impreza's/Evo's over Ford GT and Lamborghini, Underground 2 is your thing. That, and, if you can live without free roam, Juiced.

NFSMW, NFS Carbon both okay for a low-spec PC. I do not recommend games like NFSMW 2012 and other new NFS games, since they freeze frequently even on a powerful computer (like mine).

yeah Hot pursuit 2, Underground series, MOST Wanted, Carbon etc. are the best games to play easily on those configuration i've more list but since this thread titles about NFS :P

Yes Hot Pursuit 2 is still one of the very best of the entire series. But the 2010 version of Hot Pursuit is pretty decent too. Underground 1 and 2 were also good games.
