I personally think High Stakes, and after that, HP2. Like people have said before, Shift had the capability but it was presented poorly.
My thoughts exactly.
I enjoyed a lot Road Challenge (High stakes on US), was a kid back then, but damn, but was the first time I fell in love with the Diablo!
Hot Persuit 2 for the PS2 was everything you could expect from a NFS game and more. The latest most exotic cars in the world, with mind blowing scenarios, with the cops right behind you!
Underground was fun, it would be a mistake if the NFS team didn't do a game based on Street Racing back then though.
Underground 2 was also fun, it improved the flass in the first one, and added more options for you to show off with your car.
But that was about it, there wasn't need for more street racing games made by NFS team.
Most Wanted would be a fantastic game, if didn't had the whole street racing thing going on.
I did so many face palms each time I saw a Gallardo or a SLR with body kits and weird vinyls, I mean...WTF? Those kind of cars are suppose to be as they are, no need to mess with their looks, they look beautiful already as they are.
And then they give us a sequel for Most Wanted, again, was fun, but no necessary.
ProStreet got my mind quit messed up, I mean...legal racing with...illegal racing atmosphere?
And then they go "Underground" again with Undercover, a game that I could never understand.
And now SHIFT; it has the potential to become a fresh new start for the NFS series...but it fails so hard to delivery everything that it says to be.
Is it a sim? not really.
An arcade? it sure doesn't feel like one...
Again, the "fashion" of the moment let the team got carried away.
With the effort from Forza to create an awesome game, and with everybody starving for GT5, they just took the chance.
Not bad in theory...but it would work so much better if they just made the game to get a bit closer to the sim aspects.
Do I talk too much? well nobody told me to stop lol
