Best prices for racing wheel/cockpit

I'm a college student on a budget but have come down to couple things:
Is the G27 logitech the best value/performance for it's price? (I know there are better steering wheel but at a higher price)

And what is the cheapest already made cockpit play seats out there? I've looked up some just want to make sure if there are better value cockpit/playseats. (So far I've seen already made cockpits for 250-350 USD range)

Not sure about pre-made cockpits but the DFGT is generally considered the best value for money wheel because it's very good, but you get plastic pedals, no clutch and no H-shifter, so if those things are important enough to you then a G27 is the best choice. If you're on a budget you should really look into building your own cockpit, I made a basic centre post-less frame out of aluminium, designed to support three monitors, a handbrake, G27 shifter and some home made electronics with an MX-5 (Miata) seat for about £120 and there are definitely cheaper ways to do it than that if you just want to support a DFGT in front of a TV. Loads of people here have posted detailed build threads (in fact some peoples' setups are so simple that a build thread isn't required) which I'd suggest you take a look at, it might get you thinking. I have no idea about anything pre-made though.

Thank you very much for the helpful post. Yes I do want a clutch so the G27 seems like a better choice from what you are saying. As for the cockpit, your idea seems nice. I've read the cheap cockpit only thread but almost all of them don't have directions/blue print for me to actually follow the build exactly so it's pretty hard for people like me. And I do want a actual car seat, doesn't have to be amazing but a good racing seat is something I want. (not a computer chair). I live in United States so USD would be best :)

Designing your own cockpit isn't hard. Try Google SketchUp, it's great for those things. Plus by making your own, you can make it to suit your needs perfectly.

Here's some of my cockpit sketches:

The one I may be building in the upcoming months (measured 10 times to fit me in a Rover seat that I have):

Something more adjustable, compact and portable:

Something ultimate:

And there's some "follow me" plans:

Eddy's PVC Cockpit (a very very good choice) - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=138156&highlight=eddy's+pvc+rig

The PVC rig would probably be the best for you as you basically need just a hacksaw and off-the-shelf PVC fittings to build it and the result is very good.

Cheers :)
