Suspension setup helps a lot, as does downforce & chassis strengthening. The tyre type make a bit of difference too.
if you are pushing it so hard that the tyres lose grip regardless of settings, then you are pushing too hard for the car to handle regardless of how good the setup is.
EDIT:
By skid do you mean slip or traction loss under braking/accel or understeer/oversteer?
Under accel, adjust your LSD accel setting, same if braking. If under/oversteer, adjust toe/downforce/camber.
BTW, are you asking about F1 (as in Formula One) or the McLaren?
