Hey guys,

I just started playing the old Turismos again, beat GT1 in like a week. Now I'm getting back into GT2, and I forgot which car I started with. I want a starter car that I can mod and win as many races as possible with. I was thinkin the MR2, cause it meets HP reqs and mods well. Got any advice on the best starter car? Thanks in advance for all the help.

Toyota Supra Twin Turbo 91', can be found in the used cars section DAY 7 when you fisnihed your liscense tests.
Then choose 80's cup -> Tahiti (the last race).
And now use the Shioulette to make some fast money by entering GT Allstars, Red Rock Valley race.
Do it a few times then sell those TVR Speed 12s.

Some newbie tips.

try the search button, plenty there!

I hear the Honda Beat rules! So does the '82 Toyota Starlet! :)

Actually I was joking...if anything AVOID those 2 if you're new. :D

hmm...last race on 80's cup is deep forest. I don't think it makes any difference, but do I have a different version then you?

You forgot to look at the next page!
There are max. of 3 races per page ;)
80's Sports Car Cup:
Trial Mountain Mugen Civic Ferio (J) (1 color: silver)
SSR5 - Mugen CR-X III (J) (1 color: green) [exact same car as Historic race at Tahiti]
Deep Forest - Mugen Civic Type-R (J) (1 color: silver)
----
Seattle Full - Mugen Integra Type-R (J) (4 colors: white, red, black, silver)
Tahiti - [R]Skyline Silhouette Formula (R30) (2 colors: red, blue)

The Starlet's not that bad, got several turbo levels and is lightweight so runs well...

If you gone thru the game before than you have some idea what cars you win where.
IF you happen to be a "gold lisence freak" get the first lisence all gold.
The Spoon S2000 is a very nice car to start with.
Bone Stock it will beat the Trial Mtn Enduro, netting you the Denso Sard Supra which can be sold for 250,000, or used to win some of the bigger races.

If you decide to buy:
The Supra suggested earlier is a good choice,
You can get an RX-7, a 2WD Skyline. The choices are legion.

I'm not crazy about the MR-2's in GT2, as they have a tendency to "ass-happy" handling.

It's no good to start the game with, unless you're somewhat talented. Otherwise, you'll basically wind up doing the Sunday Cup at Tahiti over and over till you can afford better parts.

I used.. an FCRX7? I think?
No that was GT1... maybe it was gt2 also?
Anyway, supra turbo is good, Ive also done that for GT1, and it worked great.

I remember doing sunday club high speed ring and RR valley last (after other slow race) because the opponent has car above 200hp stock :scared:

Me too. My very first sunday cup ever, I lost all 3 races. Very first car was the '82 Starlet, which I bought and added a couple mods to (probly computer & sport suspension). I lost at Tahiti because it was a brand-new track for me at the time (now I can win with these 2 mods) and I lost High Speed & Red Rock because the Starlet is way underpowered!

I also tried the Honda Beat at some point, as well as the Silvia Q's (different driver, different car) and RX7 Infini III (another driver & car). On yet another memory card my first car was the Infiniti G20. I was able to win all 3 races in the Silvia, RX7, and Infiniti.

Good point, missed that. Apologies PB, I was thinking of the car, not as starting GT2 with the car...

That's exactly what I like about the MR2...

Sorry to be a cynic, but if you have done what you are quoted, then shouldn't you have some idea of a good starting car for GT2?

Honda Prelude VTEC, 94 i thnk. VTEC! oh sht thats fast. if u buy a ferrari red or lambo yellow one, it'll be so much faster than my sleeper black one. :sly:

Ya know, I actually started off with a Celica. Then I eventually got a Mercury Cougar XR-7. w00t.

After I made a fully modded '96 Supra turbo, things really took off!

I think you should not buy any tire, as it seems the opponent will also use the same tire. With the right car you can win many race. as most LM car has more grip you can easily slaughter any opponent.

this is an example, world cup in R390 GT1 LM '97 in normal tire. It show how bad the AI is using normal tire :D. my laptime is far from impressive (only average in here), but the opponent get left behind very far ..............

I win because I am much faster on corner, even against GT One or GT40, or is it a special feature of GT1? SUPER CORNER ATTACK .

Yeah i get what you're saying, in GT1 I started with the 94 lude vtec. Wanted to start with a different one this time around, that's why I wanted to get some opinions about other good starters.

Actually, using an R390 with any tires (except maybe sims) will guarantee an easy win if you're even just moderately good at GT racing...I always recommend stock or sports tires for anyone doing the World cup, GT500, SSR5 All Nite etc. if they're driving one of the specialer cars (LMs, Oreca Vipers, Jaguar XJ220 with Stage 2 power or more are some examples) and winning with blank space in the mirror.

Get a Supra or Skyline, they're both under 10,000.
Unfortunatly, there's no way to get money without buying a car on gt2.

Which is good, and it's also one of things that made GT4 boring :indiff:

:) I just got GT4 yesterday. :) Lord have mercy, I sat there for 4 hours straight going "wow" "wow" "holy sh#t" :D

:D You sound just like me when I got GT4.
Hope you enjoy it more than me.

The nissan Pulsar GTi-R, That little 4 wheel drive car, It's pretty heavy but when you upgrade it, It can win several races with ease and it will be no looking back, and it's cheap, I used it for my first car all the way to GT3!
