Hey guys, I'm getting F4 for Christmas (quite a ways away, I know), and it is my first Forza game. What do you guys suggest is the best way to start off and enjoy the game? I've been playing GT5 non stop for the last several months so I'm looking to make the transition as fluid as possible. Thanks.

Basically just jump in to it.

You can do a couple of free runs with any and every car (with certain exceptions) available in the game. And by the time you get it two new DLC packs will have been released, so that's 20 additional cars right there. Get addicted to Rivals Mode (it's going to happen so don't fight it), and make gobs of money, buy what you want, paint it, sell some stuff, join a club, spend endless hours in Autovista, participate in the many community activities that are going to pop up here throughout the coming months and just drool. :P

Welcome to FP by the way.

One more quick question, assuming? you've played GT5. How does the "story mode" on F4 compare to GT5? Ie. does it work in a similar manner?

Simple answer: there are no shortage of events, and there's nothing to compensate for the shortage of events.

You have World Tour that spans across 10 individual seasons, and after you've finished that there's the individual event list where you can finish race event/series' began in World Tour, or enter new ones; there are two sections in the event list that are blacked out, and I suspect new events may be added.

That's good info...I'm a soon-to-be noob myself, who's also played GT5 and am looking forward to a breath of fresh air. From what I've seen so far, FM4 seems so much more immersive, both visually and in the gameplay.

Thanks

I am a Forza Noob, third day in, the game is fun as is GT5. I really like the cars in Forza4, just incredible! I do think the scenes are pretty contrasty but I can live with that, I just need to adjust and stay on the road!

I also just started with Forza 4 after GT3,4 and 5. So far, the story mode and layout of the races is much better. I just jumped in, was given a starter car and began racing. Between that and competing in online rivals mode, you can build a collection and credits quickly.

Also, the World Tour is interesting. You have a level, and it takes you to certain tracks. From that point, you'll see a few choices of races depending on the car in which you are currently. If you don't want to use it or want to try a different race, you can select a different car. The game will then give you different options. Not every car can be used on every event, but there are a lot of choices. You can also just go the series, like a class championship or manufacturer event, and progress through the tracks.

Finally, the game has an affinity element, in which you get manufacturer awards and discounts for driving their cars. So, if you're a mod freak and are worried about money, just use a favorite car in stock form a few times and you'll have no problem affording the add ons. (I'm trying to avoid anything that would be considered a spoiler).

Edit - You do have to watch the class changes when upgrading. Changing tires will raise the class pretty quickly, for instance, and if you get carried away you may wind up racing a Subaru Legacy GT against McLarens.

I just started Forza 4 yesterday got the introduction and started racing in the world tour. After a couple of hours Im half way throught the semi pro level. Enjoying the game so far, I'm a gt5 player (lvl 40 a spec and b spec).

In GT5 its easy to see what has been done and whats still to do, can I see the same in Forza somewhere?

In GT5 you go throught the Brginner, amateur, etc etc up to expert and endurance is there the same kind of progression in Forza?

I mean how many levels are their in world tour after semi pro?
What comes after world tour?

So far so good, enjoying it. The xbox controller is taking a bit of getting used to after the PS3!

Check the event list.

In GT5 you go through the Beginner, amateur, etc etc up to expert and endurance is there the same kind of progression in Forza?

It's hidden in FM4. It will get progressively tougher as you progress to the max level of 150.

What comes after world tour?

Go to the event list and complete the rest of the races there.

I've just started Forza (got teh 360 and forza togethe ron forza 4 release day) and its a lot better than GT5, u'll have alot more fun and as t-12 said, u'll get addicted to rivals mode, i did, i havent slept properly since i started it, seriously i've had 6hours in about the last 4 days... Mountain Dew energy thy are a godsend. Get into tuning some cars up, get them sold on store front, if ur good with vinyl designs u can make money from that too, its a lot busier with things to do in Forza, i'm a big convert (altho i was greatly disappointed in GT5) T-12 has some great tunes on storefront, i have a couple for the rivals challenges that will help you get quick money in too, just search our gamertags (found over to the left there <----) join a car club, get loadsa car options, feel free to add me when u get it. i'm always chucking cars and tunes to my club to test before they go on't storefront

Update: Just took advantage of a Black Friday deal on Amazon and got Forza for $27! :D Thank you for the replies, I'm looking forward to my copy arriving.

would it let you use it if i gifted one to you? i have like 5mill credits. i'll add u in a sec and try sending you one through bud and you can try it

nah i dont think thatll work. I would have had to download the carpack in order for me to receive it i think. I dont have the information for those cars on my HD so im pretty sure it wouldnt.

Ahh yer :( well i'll send you one anyway. u can buy teh car individually for abouit 200ms points and at least that way it saves you spending credits to buy it once you bought it from marketplace

sent you an FR through bud. If u need a hand with cars or anything like that give me a shout and i can help you out, earned like 5 mill in past couple days. been awake since tuesday, i have bouts of insomnia due to my adhd so i just make the most of it and play a ****ton of video games lol

Im not in need for money right now, just in need for some good rivals :D I had 5 mil today but blew about 3mil on a sesto elemento and an audi R8lms. hope to see you on later today then!

Thanks, sent an FR. I look forward to "testing" for you.

Just got a Xbox for Valentine's and completely new to the Forza series.

Is there a complete carlist for Forza 4 ? I understand it wont have all of the DLC listed. I'm curious if certain models are only available at certain times or can I buy them later? Also if I didn't do as well as I
liked in an event in World Tour is that "events list" that was mentioned where I can go back and finish them proper?

Yes, you can use the event list to access races that either you didn't except at all during World Tour, or simply races you want to get a better time/place in.

Yup, at anytime if you have the credits for it. Some of the cars that you get at the higher levels are pretty pricey if you buy them on your own, though.

Awesome... Thanks for quick response! One more question, the cars that are given to you to choose from for free when you level up. those are also up for being bought?

As ImaRobot has noted, yes, but a lot of them are quite expensive. At least in the dealership. Here is the full list of all prize cars inclusive of dealership prices, in case you've missed it. A lot of them you can get for quite a bit cheaper in the Auction House, if you've got Gold. And just a heads up in case you do, you definitely want to get the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe at level 30. It's by far the most expensive car to get of the three, and the most expensive of the prize cars in the Auction House.
