The rules are as follows:

  • Entries will accepted until 10:00pm (GMT) Wednesday 6th February
  • Each competition's voting will last for one week. The winner of that round will choose the next theme.
  • All entries must have been taken within the last 6 months and preferably after the announcement of the theme.
  • Entries must be posted as a thumbnail no larger than 700px on the longest edge. Full sized images may be as larger as you'd like.*
  • You must submit only your own photographs, do not post anyone else's work.
  • Only one photograph per person, marked with Final Entry. You can change your entry, but must remove your current entry first and clearly state that you have posted a new entry.
  • You must not vote for your own photograph when the Poll is up. Only vote for a photograph taken by another entrant.
  • The photograph must be submitted with the following information: Subject, Date and Camera used and, if you'd like, the major camera settings - shutter speed, ISO, etc.
*While full sized images may be as larger as you'd like, you should try to limit them to approximately 1200px to enable viewing the entire image without scrolling. It's much easier to see the full effect of the shot when you can view it all at once and not have to pan.

Current theme, chosen by Week #15 winner Solo
Long exposure.

Amsterdam Festival of Light
23/12/2012

ISO 100 - 24mm - f/9,0 - 15 sec.

Swallow Falls
November 2012
EOS 60D
Only 0.6sec exposure, but the intention was to capture the water moving but still keep everything crisp, it's long enough to warrant a tripod and remote shutter release.

^Nice

I've been wanting to have a crack at lightning for ages, but we only get it maybe once or twice a year here.

I just kept running 30 sec shots. For about ten minutes. I didnt actually see that one with my eyes.

Welp everyone, pack it up, time to go home, Tom Casey won the thread. :dopey:

You can say that again...

Too Much Miata

Nikon D5100

88 second exposure only because I felt like lying in the wet leaves, without a shoe. I edited out some nasty cigarette butts that were scattered around by my roommate and then put it through the instagram treatment, as if the picture wasn't bad enough already!

So by long exposure, do we mean a few seconds or more, or do we mean need a tripod long?

Well mine is relatively short for a "long exposure", however the only aspect required to get the given shot was to increase the exposure time, and there's no way I could have got my shot hand-held.

No beef though, if mines too short I can withdraw it, no biggy.

Nah yours fits with what I was looking for Matski. My suggestion of a few seconds was more just so that it showed some movement which is what I think of in a long exposure shot. So using a tripod would probably have been a better response to Cody's question, unless you have a very steady hand of course.
